Aaron Hernandez‘s fiancée is honoring the late NFL star’s memory with a family tribute.
Shayanna Jenkins posted an old photo of their daughter Avielle, who is now 12, in church. The image from 2012 includes a digitally added snapshot of the athlete smiling in a corner, approximately eight years after his death at age 27 due to suicide while incarcerated for first-degree murder.
The athlete’s fiancée posted a heartfelt message on Instagram for March 22nd: “We privately celebrated our love for you, which we will never forget and always cherish.” She added angel and dove emoticons to convey her sentiments.
In March 2024, Shayanna posted a photo featuring Avielle in a white dress and veil, standing next to her 6-year-old sister Giselle, who isn’t biologically related to Aaron.
After Aaron’s passing, this 35-year-old individual has sporadically paid tribute to the former footballer who represented the New England Patriots from 2010 to 2012.

After Aaron’s passing, the 35-year-old occasionally pays tribute to the former New England Patriots player who played from 2010 to 2012. On Instagram in 2022, Shayanna wrote, “You may have left this world, but you never left my heart.” She accompanied her post with several photos of them and a picture of her fiancé cuddling their baby girl in bed. “#AH81 #foreverandalways”
In April 2017, Aaron was discovered deceased within a high-security prison cell in Massachusetts. He was imprisoned for life due to his conviction in the 2013 murder of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd, who was dating Shayanna’s sister, Shaneah Jenkins.
A year after Aaron’s death, Shayanna spoke out about her grief in a tribute to her late partner.
In a heartfelt message on Instagram in 2018, Shayanna expressed that she received a call saying you had passed away. Overwhelmed with emotion, she dropped the phone and wept uncontrollably. All she wanted was to get to you as quickly as possible so you wouldn’t be alone anymore.
To put it simply, I’m utterly bewildered and yearn to engage in a long conversation with you, not just for myself, but for our precious child as well. Through the pain of hurt, sadness, and anger I’ve endured, she has been the beacon that lifts my spirits.
As a devoted admirer, I express my gratitude to you, Aaron, for giving me the chance to recount our shared adventures and make fresh memories with Avielle. Know that your impact endures, and until we reunite, may your legacy continue to shine.
Look back at Aaron and Shayanna’s relationship…
On the one-year mark since the passing of Aaron Hernandez, his fiancée Shayanna Jenkins honored his memory, as he took his own life in 2017 while incarcerated for murder.
She penned, “I recall receiving a call informing me that you had succeeded,” at the moment. “Upon receiving the phone, I broke down in tears uncontrollably, not knowing how to react. All I wanted was to be with you as soon as possible so you wouldn’t be alone anymore. That day was the worst of my life, especially considering things seemed to be improving.
Speaking about her 11-year-old daughter, Avielle, she went on to say, “I’ve endured pain, sadness, and certainly anger. Yet, this little girl has managed to lift my spirits. Even though I still feel the hurt today and am trying to understand life, we will honor your life with love, joy, and happiness.
Shayanna and her little daughter sported Patriots jerseys with pride. From 2010 to 2012, Aaron played the role of a tight end for the New England football squad.
For Shayanna, Aaron’s legacy continues to grow stronger every day.
In 2018, she penned words that truly resonated with me: “You’ve touched the hearts of countless individuals, not only through your radiant smile but also by simply being yourself.” I am deeply grateful for the unique experiences and perspectives you’ve introduced into my life, and for enriching both yours and your daughter’s lives.
I am honored to have been a part of your journey, sharing our memories and creating new ones with this extraordinary soul. Your legacy will continue to inspire us as it transcends time. Until we meet again, know that you are deeply loved and cherished.
It takes however long it needs, but I always wake up to remember you’re gone and feel that pain anew each day,” Shayanna wrote alongside a selfie with Aaron. “You are deeply loved and dearly missed.
She described her love as “beautiful inside and out.”
For Shayanna, there’s no denying who her daughter takes after: “Daddy’s twin !”
