A new Miss America has been crowned.
Originating from Alabama, contestant Abbie Stockard, currently in a relationship with Utah Jazz center Walker Kessler, was crowned the winner at this year’s annual beauty pageant held on January 5 in Orlando, Florida. This marks the fourth time a Miss Alabama has taken on the title role.
In a video shared on the organization’s Instagram Stories, Abbie expressed her astonishment by saying, “This is unbelievable!” She added, “I can’t fathom why this happened to me. Goodness gracious! I’m thrilled. I’m thankful.
Additionally, the 22-year-old nursing student, who served as a cheerleader at Auburn University and was later crowned a pageant queen, received lots of encouragement from Walker, aged 23. He expressed his feelings in a touching message on social media, accompanied by pictures with the triumphant beauty queen.
In an Instagram post on January 6, the NBA star congratulated Abbie, saying ‘Well done!’ He was thrilled by her victory, which he saw as a testament to her dedication and faith. He encouraged her to share her success with those around her.
In a comment on his post, Abigail expressed gratitude to her partner for his support, saying, “Your presence last night made all the difference. I’m incredibly grateful for the shared adventure of life that we embark upon.
In the 97th competition, Abbie emerged victorious against 51 other aspirants, each representing a U.S. state, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico. Annette Addo-Yobo, notably the first Miss Texas of foreign birth, was announced as the first runner-up, offering her congratulations to her fellow competitor.
