Class is (almost) back in session.
For the educators at Abbott Elementary, starting September 8 could potentially be their most demanding school year yet, a challenge portrayed by Quinta Brunson, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tyler James Williams, Lisa Ann Walter, and Chris Perfetti in the TopMob News season four trailer.
In essence, the trailer features educators handling misbehaving classroom animals and a ringworm outbreak. It’s worth noting that even Principal Ava, portrayed by Janelle James, might not escape the chaos unscathed.
In a playful manner, Ava jokes about her teachers in the recently-released teaser on September 25th, saying “We’re asking for books, but what we really need are paper towels in the classroom! I suppose you all desire pay raises as well.
To which Melissa answers, “I like money.”
And Barbara deadpans, “I’m still waiting on the paper towels.”
Just like any season of “Abbott,” the problems afflicting the elementary school feel distressingly authentic, such as one that Janine discusses during her confession in season four.
In a preview, she mentions that they requested additional funds from the district for after-school activities, but were only given $50 for classroom pets as an alternative.
Of course, Barbara skillfully steers clear of the turmoil by opting for a fish as her classroom pet. As she gently lifts its aquarium, she addresses it cheerily, “I have a feeling we’re going to find each other quite compatible.
Additionally, there’s more than just one theatrical event unfolding within the school corridors this academic year. In another part of the announcement, Jacob alerts his fellow educators about a ringworm outbreak in his class, which naturally creates a lot of commotion.
When they learned about the spreading sickness, Melissa moved cautiously away from Jacob in the teachers’ lounge, while in another instance, Gregory shielded his nose as he intensely sprayed disinfectant throughout his classroom. The situation eventually escalated with Ava donning a protective suit and janitor Mr. Johnson, portrayed by William Stanford Davis, taking control.
“I love you like a son Jacob,” Mr. Johnson tells Jacob in the hallway. “But I will beat you down.”
As a lifestyle expert, I must emphasize that the emergence of ringworm could potentially shape the course of the season, becoming an unwelcome challenge for teachers who prioritize cleanliness and hygiene.
“Cancel classes,” a frazzled Gregory says slamming his classroom door. “Burn Abbott down!”
Season four of Abbott Elementary premieres Oct. 9 on ABC.
