ABC Become Three-Time TNA Tag Team Champions at Slammiversary

As a long-time fan of TNA Wrestling, I’ve seen my fair share of title changes and thrilling matches at their annual event, Slammiversary. This year was no exception as the tag team championship match between ABC and The System delivered yet again.

During TNA Slammiversary, where numerous championship titles were at stake, it was inevitable that at least one title would be transferred to new owners. The initial title shift took place during the tag team championship bout, where ABC invoked their rematch privilege against Brian Myers and Eddie Edwards of The System. Ace Austin and Chris Bey aimed to secure their third TNA Tag Team Championship title, but it wouldn’t come without challenges – especially with Alisha Edwards potentially influencing the outcome.

During the match, there were numerous back-and-forth moments, making it uncertain who would emerge as the victor. Luckily, the contest didn’t drag on into the early hours of the morning. ABC seized an opportunity following Bey’s inadvertent hit on Alisha with the cutter. A nod to the Hart family was made during the event since they were in Canada, and their pink attire honored their storied history. After executing a double cutter and the Art of Finesse and The Fold, The System was defeated, allowing Austin to secure another championship win.

The duo lost their titles to The System in March, marking their last titleholding stint. Since then, they’ve been striving for another chance at the belts, even clashing with each other once. In TNA, prior to this setback, they enjoyed a largely overlooked reign lasting five months, which ended at Slammiversary 20XX when they were dethroned by Subculture. Their year saw quite a resurgence in terms of title contention.

Now that TNA is collaborating with WWE, it creates an opportunity for them to introduce new tag teams across all brands. Jordynne Grace, the present Knockouts Champion of TNA, and Anthem Sports executives are optimistic about the possibility of WWE and TNA sharing weekends. Grace dreams of organizing a Worlds Collide event. Austin recently renewed his contract with the company, providing ample time for ideas to develop beforehand.
