Great news for supporters of long-standing favorites Grey’s Anatomy, The Rookie, and 911! The network has officially confirmed the renewal of all three shows.
The confirmations for renewals were posted across the network’s social media platforms, ensuring that Grey’s Anatomy will continue through its 22nd season, The Rookie will reach its 8th season, and 911 will proceed into its 9th season.
It has also been revealed that Will Trent and Shifting Gears will return for new seasons too.
It was rumored that after spending two decades as the leading figure on Grey’s Anatomy, Ellen Pompeo, who recently got cast in Good American Family, might permanently step away from the show.
In season 19, Pompeo’s on-screen character had a diminished role, yet she still provides the narrative voiceover for episodes and frequently appears in the series set in Seattle.
911’s eighth season is currently on-air, with the remaining episodes set to premiere later in this month. It recently collaborated with another ABC police procedural series, Doctor Odyssey, though the network has yet to decide on its renewal for future seasons.
At present, it’s uncertain which characters will reappear in the series, yet we anticipate that Angela Bassett, famously known for her role as Athena Grant in Black Panther, will likely make a comeback, bringing her powerful portrayal to the forefront once more.
In the UK, both series are available to stream on Disney Plus.
Regarding “The Rookie,” we don’t know yet when season 7 will air in the UK, as it was already released in the U.S. earlier this year. However, you can catch up on previous seasons by streaming them on NOW and Sky.
News about the upcoming season is sparse, yet it’s likely that Nathan Fillion will reappear for season 8. Previously, Variety mentioned that another series spin-off, taking place within the same universe, is being developed as well. Interestingly, Nathan Fillion has been confirmed to serve as an executive producer for this new project.
