Absolute Superman’s Costume Has a Major (and Revealing) New Flaw

As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours playing various Superman-themed games, I must say that Absolute Superman #2 was quite a rollercoaster ride! The suit’s AI system and the sentient sunstone were intriguing additions to the Man of Steel’s iconic costume. However, it seems that the creators have introduced an interesting twist by making the suit’s capabilities finite.

In Absolute Superman #2, the innovative take on Superman’s costume is showcased further, featuring a self-aware AI system that assists and adapts to his surroundings in real time. This advanced suit, crafted from a sunstone, enables Superman to aid others during intense battles, such as when he uses Sunstone Dust found within his attire to shield people amidst a firefight with Lazarus. However, an intriguing flaw arises as the use of this dust depletes its supply, potentially leaving Superman vulnerable and exposed.

Due to Lois Lane (an employee of Lazarus in this universe), Superman finds himself handcuffed to her while they attempt to subdue him. The technology embedded in the cuffs, provided by Lazarus, is making it hard for Superman’s suit to cut through them. Consequently, Superman must carry on fighting with Lane still attached to him, a challenging feat that he manages nonetheless.

With Lazarus troops firing relentlessly and raining down heavy artillery, Superman works tirelessly to safeguard those ensnared in the tumultuous chaos. Utilizing Sunstone dust, he erects a protective barrier around everyone he encounters, shielding them from gunfire and explosions. As the dust within his cape expands to shelter larger numbers of people, notice how his suit gradually vanishes from the rest of his body on the same page. Later in that panel, you can see his costume nearly vanish completely as he valiantly protects roughly 9 or 10 individuals from the imminent blast.

In a turn of events, Superman escorts them to safety and assures them there’s no need for fear as a cloud of dust envelops them. He then unveils that this very dust has the power to mend wounds, and miraculously, it begins to aid those nearby and hasten their healing.

In the course of events, Superman begins to feel the strain, eventually collapsing on his knees following an intense energy expenditure. Momentarily, he pauses to regain strength as debris whirls and reforms around him, miraculously mending his suit in the process. Lastly, it appears that the suit manages to cut free the cuff, propelling Superman upward, leaving Lane behind. From her subsequent account within the issue, it seems their encounter significantly alters Lane’s perspective on Superman.

Regarding the suit, we’re aware it needs to absorb solar energy, and it wasn’t fully charged before the scuffle in the last episode. Fingers crossed Superman manages to recharge completely and take some time off before his next encounter with Lazarus. However, it’s worth noting that the suit itself has limitations – it can run out of power, potentially leaving Superman exposed.
