Absolute Wonder Woman Introduces Steve Trevor With a Major Origins Twist

As a die-hard fan of DC comics, I must say that the latest addition to Absolute Wonder Woman has left me utterly enchanted! The introduction of Steve Trevor, our beloved hero’s love and ally, has breathed new life into Diana’s story.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share my thoughts on Absolute Wonder Woman #2, where the legendary Amazonian warrior meets an unexpected ally – Steve Trevor! This issue takes us further into Diana’s unique upbringing on Circe’s magical Wild Isle of Hell. While Circe played a significant role in the first issue, it was mostly an unfamiliar cast. However, #2 brings a familiar face into the mix – our beloved Steve Trevor!

First Meetings

As I encounter Steve once more in our current reality, events transport us back to the moment when Wonder Woman and I first crossed paths. Trevor, washed ashore on the mystical Wild Isle, is discovered by me. However, his words are foreign, so I must conjure a spell for understanding. But just as we’re getting started, a menacing Hydra swoops in, snatching Trevor away and dragging him beneath the island’s waves, out of my reach.

Diana rushes inside and rescues him from imminent peril, later escorting him to their dwelling. This action sparks a humorous conversation between Circe and Diana regarding his ownership, with Circe initially showing reluctance but eventually assisting him nonetheless. Upon regaining consciousness, Trevor is informed by Diana that he’s in the underworld, specifically in hell, a revelation he finds hard to accept.

As they allow him to comprehend the situation, Diana makes clear that she finds the enigmatic stranger fascinating, a fact not missed by Circe. In response to his earlier actions, Trevor expresses regret and sets off to explore where he’s landed, accompanied by Diana. Following an amusing dialogue about their differences in height, Diana helps allay some of Trevor’s concerns with the reassuring statement, “Not everyone here is meant to be here. Sometimes we simply arrive somewhere unexpectedly.” Grateful for rescuing him not once but twice, Trevor thanks her, and the conversation shifts back to the present moment.

Reunited

As I log back into the game, it’s apparent that Trevor has somehow managed to cheat death. I can’t figure out yet how he did it, but here we are. It’s been a while since our paths last crossed, and when I encountered Wonder Woman, she expressed surprise, saying “I had hoped to see you again, but never expected it would be today.” After that, she took me to meet her gruff commander, who Trevor quickly found himself at odds with. In classic Diana fashion, she swiftly set him straight and offered assistance in preparing for the imminent invasion.

During that conversation, an important fact about Trevor comes to light. After Trevor interjects for Diana, the Commander says to him, “The world might see you as a blend of superhero and Jesus, but I know you’re simply human. Even you can face a court martial.

As a fervent fan, I’m thrilled about Trevor’s resurgence from the underworld, creating quite a buzz among us. The tales surrounding his return have taken on a mythical quality that leaves us intrigued. Now, we find ourselves anticipating how things unfold between Diana and Steve, given their changed circumstances compared to their first encounter. Yet, despite these changes, the essence of their relationship remains undeniably present, leaving us eager for more revelations.

How about this for a paraphrase? “Were you impressed by Steve Trevor’s first appearance alongside Wonder Woman in the comics? Feel free to share your thoughts on all things related to comics and DC, including my discussions on Threads and Twitter @mattaguilarcb and Bluesky @knightofoa!
