Abyssus launches August 12

On August 12th, the Brinepunk cooperative first-person shooter game “Abyssus” is set to release for PC through Steam. This announcement was made by publishers The Arcade Crew and developers DoubleMoose. A demo of the game will be accessible starting June 9th as part of the Steam Next Fest: June 2025 Edition.

Here are the latest details:

Explore today’s fresh gameplay trailer for the captivating underwater-themed world of Abyssus, a unique brinepunk realm where technology is driven by ocean energy. Gather potent equipment and divine abilities as you navigate through the remnants of an ancient civilization teeming with hidden secrets and perils lurking in the depths.

In the upcoming demo, whether Brinehunters are venturing out solo or with a team, they’ll have an exciting new tool at their disposal – the Tesla Gun. This electric weapon packs a punch against clusters of enemies, dealing massive damage. Its full power is revealed through additional modifications, allowing for powerful charged attacks. Alongside a sleeker user interface, players will find themselves in the Gardens biome, a beautiful yet eerie environment where the remnants of an ancient aquatic civilization are guarded by watchful protectors.

The collaborative combat in Abyssus is partly influenced by the team’s frequent joint play sessions of games like Deep Rock Galactic, Warhammer: Vermintide II, and Gunfire Reborn. In other words, their experience playing these games as a studio has contributed to the unique design and emotional intensity found in the combat mechanics of Abyssus.

In the game titled “Abyssus“, teams of Brinehunters are dispatched to delve into the ocean depths to examine a potent electromagnetic signal, an expedition that eventually uncovers a submerged, antique city. Delve into the remains of this long-forgotten civilization to unlock its mysteries while battling through swarms of corrupted adversaries armed with technology from eons past, providing feedback on each shot, making every strike feel precise and powerful.

After completing your task, the best way to truly rejoice is by singing a sea shanty together with your teammates. With a simple press of a button, you’ll begin to sing “Iron, Steam & Brine!” Anyone who wishes to participate can do so – a sea shanty becomes even more enjoyable as more voices join in the melody.

In the heart of intense multiplayer battles, the Brinehunters need to make use of numerous weapon upgrades and age-old relics to adapt their strategy for survival and eventually reach the surface again. Players can choose to descend alone or join forces with up to three companions in team play. The engaging progression system will keep veterans engaged while still being welcoming to beginners, as they’ll find themselves spending countless hours gathering every modification, relic, and ability hidden within this captivating yet treacherous society.
