2001’s critically acclaimed Game Boy Advance title has made a comeback on Nintendo Switch systems. In its early days, the original GBA was just getting started, with Nintendo later introducing upgrades like the Game Boy Advance SP and Game Boy Micro. However, even in its infant stages, the Game Boy Advance boasted an impressive library of great games such as “Advance Wars,” “Mario Kart: Super Circuit,” “Castlevania: Circle of the Moon,” “Golden Sun,” “Super Mario Advance,” and “F-Zero: Maximum Velocity.” Today, one of the best GBA games from its early era is available once more on Switch and has never been easier to play.
Starting today, February 14th, Nintendo has just added “Wario Land 4” as the newest Game Boy Advance game to their Nintendo Switch Online service. Originally launched in North America back in November 2001, “Wario Land 4” was a significant addition to the Wario series which previously appeared on Game Boy and Game Boy Color systems. This game made its way to the Game Boy Advance (GBA) near the console’s launch, but it stood out as one of the highest-rated games throughout the entire lifespan of the handheld device. On Metacritic, “Wario Land 4” boasts a remarkable aggregate score of 88/100 from professional reviewers, with fans giving it an average rating of 8.7/10.
To clarify, Wario Land 4 is available on Nintendo Switch, but it requires a subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online service. More specifically, you’ll need the “Expansion Pack” tier of this service to access Game Boy Advance games, like Wario Land 4. This version of the service costs $50 per year, compared to the standard $20 membership, but it offers additional benefits such as Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games, DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and more content not included in the basic plan. So, if you’re keen on playing Wario Land 4, upgrading to this tier of Switch Online might be a good investment.
