Adam Sandler Offers Exciting Update on Happy Gilmore 2

As a gamer with a knack for movies that straddle the line between sports and comedy, I can hardly contain my excitement over the upcoming sequel to “Happy Gilmore.” Growing up, this film was a staple in our household VHS rotation, and it’s been a long time coming to see Adam Sandler reprise his iconic role.

Earlier this year, it was disclosed that Adam Sandler would be collaborating with Netflix for a new Happy Gilmore movie sequel, which is approximately 30 years following the initial release of the original film. In the upcoming movie, Sandler will reprise his role as the main character, Happy Gilmore, who was once a struggling hockey player and found a second chance in golf. At this point, it remains undecided who from the original cast will participate, but Christopher McDonald is expected to return as Happy’s adversary, Shooter McGavin. The movie also featured Julie Bown as Virginia Vent, who recently worked with Sandler on Hubie Halloween in 2020. With casting announcements yet to come, Sandler has confirmed that the film will include an appearance by Travis Kelce, a well-known tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs who gained popularity last year when he started dating Taylor Swift.

On The Tonight Show, Sandler said, “We’ve got something great for Travis. He’ll drop by, and let me tell you, he’s a genuinely nice individual. You both would adore him in person … Such a large, charming man. Witty and incredibly cool.”

Previously this year, speculation arose that Kelce could appear in an upcoming sequel, a matter he had earlier discussed on his “New Heights” podcast.

Kelce casually mentioned that he wasn’t aware of any job opportunities for Happy Gilmore 2, but if there were, he would definitely be interested in participating. He further expressed his excitement about being involved with anything related to the Adam Sandler film or its set. He hinted that unrealized theories could become reality and we might not know about it yet. So, while it’s possible he is already in discussions for a role, it could also be that he isn’t.

Besides the news about Kelce in the film industry this week, there’s more to come. It’s been announced that he will appear in Lionsgate’s fresh action-comedy titled “Loose Canons,” directed by Chad Stahelski of “John Wick” fame. Additionally, he has landed a role in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming television series called “Grotesquerie.”

Happy Gilmore Stars We’ve Lost:

Adam Sandler Offers Exciting Update on Happy Gilmore 2

Regrettably, several significant actors from the movie “Happy Gilmore” have recently passed away. For instance, Frances Bay, who portrayed Happy’s grandmother, left us in 2011 at the age of 92. Carl Weathers, known for his role as Happy’s mentor Chubbs, passed away this year at the age of 76. Although Chubbs met his end in the original “Happy Gilmore,” he made a ghostly appearance at the film’s conclusion, hinting at potential storylines had he lived on. Tragically, Joe Flaherty, who played the character Donald the Heckler, also passed away this year at 82 years old.

In addition to the star-studded cast, the film included standout performances by Richard Kiel (as Mr. Larson), who sadly passed away in 2014 at 74, and Bob Barker, who is well-known for portraying himself in the movie. The beloved game show host passed away recently at the impressive age of 99.

In a heartfelt tweet, Sander expressed: “He was the legend, the top-notch. Such a delightful, humorous companion he was to spend time with. I cherished our conversations, our shared laughter, even our friendly sparring matches. He will be deeply missed by everyone in my circle. Today is truly heartbreaking. My love and sympathies are with Bob and his family during this difficult time. Thank you for the incredible memories you provided us.”
