Addison Rae Changes Her Name

Addison Rae wasn’t obsessed with her full stage name.

Because of this, the artist formerly known as “Diet Pepsi” singer opted to drop the initial part of her nickname and instead be called just “Addison” for her self-titled debut album release on June 6th.

As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but reminisce about the moment I shared during my interview when I casually mentioned, “Gosh, I feel like I’ve outgrown being called Addison Rae,” a sentiment I recalled expressing on Quenlin Blackwell’s YouTube series, Feeding Starving Celebrities, on June 8. The title of my album, Addison, seems to symbolically connect with that idea.

However, this doesn’t imply that the TikTok star, originally known as Addison Rae Easterling, anticipates every one of her followers to start referring to her with her new name.

Addison stated, ‘Those who recognize me by the name Addison Rae and have known me under that name before, will forever recognize me in this way.’

Instead, the 24-year-old playfully noted that this change would simplify the process of signing autographs for her in the future.

She jokingly commented, “I’m honestly quite fed up with writing out ‘Addison Rae.’ It’s quite lengthy, and I prefer to simply sign ‘Addison’ instead.

Addison mentioned that the alteration seemed “more logical” and explained, “It’s a return to the original essence, essentially.

Initially, the actress from “She’s All That” didn’t intend to unveil her new stage name with this record’s release, but she’s content with how things turned out now.

Addison explained, “At times, an album track serves as its own title. I’ve slightly adapted this concept. However, when listened to in full, there isn’t one title that truly encapsulates the entire piece of music.

In the end, the singer credited her inner circle with suggesting she go in a different direction.

It’s just like something you’d create, it sounds like your music.” This led me to ponder, “Perhaps this album should simply bear my name,” I mused.

The This Is Us alum explained why he went by his middle name Kelby until he was a teenager.

He mentioned during a 2025 interview on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that his father goes by Sterling Brown Jr., while his grandfather is known as Sterling Brown Sr. He explained that he chose a different name for himself because Sterling seemed like a name more fitting for an elderly man.

However, following the death of his father due to a heart attack, Sterling chose to return to using his original name as a means of paying tribute to him.

Since he had passed away when I was ten, it had been more than five and a half years since I last heard his name by the time I turned sixteen. In that moment, I found myself yearning to hear that name once more. So, I decided to ask people to call me Sterling instead.

Born as Eilleen Regina Edwards, I was later adopted and became Eilleen Regina Twain. When I embarked on my career as a professional singer, I felt the need for a stage name that didn’t echo my grandmothers’ names too closely – both were named Eilleen and Regina. In my mind, performing under their names onstage just didn’t feel right to me. So, I opted to change it to Shania Twain. I had encountered someone bearing the name Shania before, and I was captivated by its beauty. And there you have it – Shania Twain was born!
