Following the frenzy of his recent Netflix debut, Adolescence, and a forthcoming part in Wuthering Heights directed by Emerald Fennell, what other exciting prospects might there be for the talented Owen Cooper? Why, feature in a music video by Sam Fender, naturally!
Since the debut of the Adolescence limited series in March, there’s been a lot of buzz surrounding the young breakout talent. Ever since then, people can’t wait to find out about his future projects.
Indeed, it appears that artist Sam Fender is hinting at the casting of actor Jude Law (Cooper) in his upcoming music video for the song “Little Bit Closer.
As a movie critic, I took notice when Fender shared a cryptic snap on both his Instagram and X accounts without tagging or mentioning anyone. Eagle-eyed fans quickly picked up on the fact that a rising star named Cooper was prominently featured in the image. Intrigued by the buzz, Cooper himself reposted the same photo to his Instagram Stories, effectively confirming the speculation.
In the past, Fender has collaborated with well-known actors on his music videos, and he did so again recently by working with Stephen Graham from the show “Adolescence” for his “Spit of You” music video in 2021.
As a devoted cinephile, I must say, in that captivating clip, Graham stepped into the role of Fender’s dad. It was almost like a complete loop, reminiscent of an Adolescence moment, skillfully orchestrated by the talented lensman, Philip Barantini.
After that, Fender teamed up with Andrew Scott, known for his role as Ripley, on his People Watching video, a project they launched earlier this year.
Currently, there’s no information available on Cooper’s part in the production of “Little Bit Closer” or who is directing it, yet we can anticipate that it will likely be another deeply moving music video.
During adolescence, Cooper assumed the role of Jamie Miller, a minor suspected of murdering his schoolmate Katie.
Instead of focusing on who perpetrated the heinous deed, the series delved deeply into understanding why Jamie carried out this act, exploring the impact of incel culture and social media in fueling increasing levels of misogyny among young males.
Ever since it debuted, the show has shone brightly as a jewel in Netflix’s streaming collection, breaking rating records, igniting discussions, and even influencing debates in the UK Parliament.
Although this tale stands well on its own, there’s a chance we might see more adventures, as Graham hinted at the prospect of creating another narrative during an interview with Variety.
