Adrien Brody’s 5-Minute Oscar Speech Takes Over the Red Carpet!

Adrien Brody didn’t let the pianist play him off.

Following The Brutalist’s triumph at the 2025 Oscars for Best Actor, he persisted in delivering his acceptance speech until completion, even requesting the on-site orchestra to halt their music during his speech. (You can find all the night’s major winners here.)

Brody, who won Best Actor for The Pianist in 2003 earlier, urgently asked to hurry up as he exceeded the 45-second time limit. “Could you please turn off the music? I’ve done this before, it’s not my first time. I assure you, I’ll be quick about it.

In the end, the individual aged 51 delivered an address that lasted a significant five minutes or approximately 558 words, earning it a place among the longest acceptance speeches ever given at the Oscars.

During his speech, Brody expressed one insight he’s gained from returning: a broader perspective. Regardless of how advanced someone’s career may be or their achievements, they can still vanish. He believes that the unique charm of this occasion lies in understanding and appreciating this fact.

He went on to say, “This is a fresh start, and I hope that over the next two decades, I’ll have the chance to demonstrate that I deserve significant, impactful, and pertinent roles.

As the trailblazing individual who made history by becoming the first artist to secure two Best Actor Oscars from their very first two nominations, I, Brody, took a moment to ponder over the past two decades since my initial victory.

He expressed, “Receiving an award like this marks a significant milestone,” he stated. “In the movie, my character refers to it as a destination, but for me, it’s not just the pinnacle of my career; it’s a fresh start. I hope that for the next 20 years of my life, I can continue to prove myself worthy of such meaningful, important, and relevant roles.

In addition to his on-screen roles at the Grand Budapest Hotel, he took time to express gratitude towards his dear ones, such as his mom, dad, and partner Georgina Chapman.

He enthusiastically expressed that he shares this with his extraordinary partner, Georgina. She not only boosted his personal confidence, but also enriched his sense of self-importance and moral compass.

Brody also shared a message for Chapman’s children with ex Harvey Weinstein.

Brody said, ‘Dash and India, I realize our journey has been like a roller coaster, but thank you both for letting me become part of your lives. Popsie is returning as a victor.’
