This year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival has been exceptional, breaking records with announcements about “Steven Universe,” “Regular Show,” “The Smiling Friends,” and others. Interestingly enough, the festival also zeroed in on the world of Ooo, as “Adventure Time: Fionna And Cake” – a spin-off not centered around the original duo that started the series – has gained such popularity that it’s getting a second season. Although Annecy didn’t unveil a new trailer or release date for season two, the upcoming journey of Fionna and Cake has offered some significant details regarding the universe’s comeback.
This year at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Adam Muto, producer and showrunner of Fionna and Cake, was present to give a sneak peek of what’s to come for the series. During a panel with other key figures from Cartoon Network, Muto unveiled some exclusive footage from the upcoming season that hasn’t been released online yet. The new footage suggests that unlike the first season where Fionna and Cake traveled across different dimensions, season two will concentrate on Fionna’s original universe. As fans are aware, Fionna comes from a world similar to ours but was pulled into Ooo when the entire multiverse was under threat. When the spin-off resumes, it seems that Fionna and Cake won’t be the only characters present.

He explained, “For this season, we decided to mainly set most of the stories in Fiona’s world. I believe it will make it feel more ordinary, but remember, it’s still quite peculiar. And that’s essentially part of the essence of ‘Adventure Time‘.
