Aerosmith Retires From Touring Due To Steven Tyler's Vocal Cord Injury

As a lifelong Aerosmith fan, this news hits me like a freight train. For decades, their music has been the soundtrack to my life, the rhythm to my heartbeat, and the anthems that fueled my spirit. From “Dream On” to “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” their songs have carried me through joy, sorrow, love, and loss.

Aerosmith is taking its final bow.

Legendary rock band famous for songs such as “Dream On” and “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” announced their retirement from touring due to an injury to lead singer Steven Tyler’s vocal cords, which occurred in September 2023.

“Since day one, we’ve aimed to astound you during our performances,” the band shared on Instagram Aug 2. “You’re aware that Steven’s voice is unique and unmatched. Over the past few months, he’s been putting in countless hours to bring his voice back to its pre-injury state.”

The collective – featuring individuals like Tom Hamilton, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, and Buck Johnson – collectively expressed that, although he had the finest medical care at his disposal, it appears that a complete healing from his vocal injury might unfortunately prove impossible.

They announced a tough yet essential choice, which was undeniably sad for them, as a united team – to step away from performing live shows.

The Grammy-winning band expressed gratitude to their dedicated fans, known as the “Blue Army,” for standing by them through the years. They also acknowledged that some supporters have been with them since the start, and collectively, they helped make rock ‘n’ roll legend by being part of their journey.

In summary, they expressed their heartfelt gratitude to you, the finest fans across the universe. Crank up our tunes, both now and forevermore. Keep on dreaming. You have brought our dreams to life.

As a diehard Aerosmith fan, the news of their impending retirement has me feeling like I’ve just lost a dear friend. It seems like only yesterday when they had to postpone their Peace Out farewell tour due to Steven Tyler’s injury to his vocal cords during a performance. Now, it’s barely been a year and we’re saying goodbye? I can’t help but feel heartbroken at the thought of not seeing these rock legends on stage anymore.

Initially underestimated, it appears that Steven’s vocal injury is indeed quite severe. His physician has verified not only the harm done to his vocal cords but also a fracture in his larynx, necessitating continuous treatment.

“Steven expressed that he was deeply saddened not to perform alongside Aerosmith, his fellow musicians from The Black Crowes, and the amazing fans they all share. He assured everyone that they would return to rock together again as soon as possible.”

As a die-hard fan, I can’t hide my disappointment about the tour getting called off. Yet, the band that ignited my passion for music way back in 1970, has promised to return the tickets I bought earlier. They’ve got my back!
