AEW Dynamite Five-Year Anniversary: Juice Robinson Promises to “Get Crazy” Against Hangman Page

AEW Dynamite Five-Year Anniversary: Juice Robinson Promises to "Get Crazy" Against Hangman Page

As a longtime wrestling aficionado with roots deep in the world of NJPW and ROH, I’ve been following Juice Robinson’s career with great interest. His upcoming match against Hangman Page on AEW Dynamite: Five-Year Anniversary is shaping up to be a barnburner!

At AEW Collision: Grand Slam last weekend, “Hangman” Adam Page escalated his feud with Juice Robinson. In a Lumberjack Strap Match where the ring was encircled by AEW wrestlers armed with belts, Hangman confronted Jeff Jarrett. The lumberjacks included former AEW World Trios Champions Juice Robinson and The Gunns, who wore flannel and jeans as they traditionally would. During the match, both sides stayed neutral, striking both Hangman and Jarrett when they ventured outside the ring. However, Hangman perceived Robinson’s blows as personal, retaliating against him after defeating Jarrett by hanging Robinson over the ropes with a belt.

Juice Robinson Reflects on History With Hangman Page

Juice Robinson has his chance to get vengeance on Hangman Page.

In a chat with ComicBook before his five-year anniversary match with Hangman at AEW Dynamite, Robinson reminisced about how quickly his feud with the ex-AEW World Champion intensified.

Robinson stated, ‘I didn’t choose to be a lumberjack; I was assigned the role. Given the task, I performed as required, dealing blows to both Jarrett and Page. Yet, it was Jarrett who reacted negatively, sulking over my professional duties. He took things too far,’ Robinson added. ‘On our fifth anniversary, we’ll engage in a fierce battle on Wednesday, an event I eagerly anticipate since I hold him in high regard as a wrestler. He’s accomplished much and is exceptional, but if you push me to extremes, I’ll respond in kind.’

In this upcoming contest, Robinson and Hangman will face each other for the first time in a singles match. However, they are no longer new acquaintances as they have encountered each other numerous times before.

Robinson reminisced about Adam, who he refers to as “the arsonist” for now, as they go way back, even to their Ring of Honor and New Japan days. They’ve shared the ring a few times in World Tag leagues. Each time they squared off, I emerged victorious, with his team never managing to defeat me. We’ve never had a one-on-one match, but whenever we were part of any tag team contest, I always came out on top.

Robinson versus Hangman is featured on the packed AEW Dynamite: Five-Year Anniversary lineup, which also boasts a match between AEW International Champion Will Ospreay and Ricochet, as well as a clash between the AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson and the AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada.

Speaking as a fan myself, I’d rephrase it like this: “Such contests won’t sway me, that’s clear. Regardless of whether they lead to or follow ours, I’m set on seizing my own opportunities. If you were to ask Adam ‘Pac’, he’d likely echo the same sentiments. We’re not focused on Ricochet and Ospreay, nor Danielson and Okada. It’s all about our showdown, and we’re eager to prove who’s superior. Admittedly, I’m often the underdog, but I embrace that role. However, if I manage to defeat one of AEW’s prominent figures, it’ll propel me significantly up the ranks. This encounter presents a massive chance for me, and frankly, I’m not overly concerned about the other matches on the bill.

In terms of their history, Ospreay vs. Ricochet and Danielson vs. Okada are revived rivalries. On the other hand, Robinson vs. Hangman is a newly ignited feud. Given this context, it’s uncertain whether this encounter will resolve Robinson’s issues with Hangman or instead kindle a prolonged conflict between them.

“Adam the arsonist’s loyalties are unclear, as Robinson said. I assumed he was friends with Dark Order, but his association seems fluctuating – sometimes he’s on his own, other times he’s with The Elite. However, I have my trusted allies Austin and Colten. This feud could reach its climax on Wednesday. We’ll find out if it ends or continues when I defeat him in a match and pin him down for the win. Given our history, this isn’t just an ordinary contest; it’s deeply personal. The AEW Grand Slam event was humiliating, especially when I was put in a chokehold in front of an audience.

AEW Dynamite: Five-Year Anniversary goes down at 8 PM ET on TBS.
