AEW Dynamite: FTR Will Face The Acclaimed for Tag Title Shot After Match Ends in Disqualification

As a long-time wrestling fan who’s witnessed the evolution of tag team rivalries, I can’t help but feel a tinge of nostalgia as I watch the Young Bucks defend their titles yet again against FTR and The Acclaimed. It seems like just yesterday when these teams were battling it out on Dark, and now here we are, with the Young Bucks holding a majority of the power in AEW and three sets of titles amongst them.

At All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) event “All In,” the Young Bucks will protect their Tag Team Championships against one of their adversaries, either The Acclaimed or FTR. Over the past few weeks, they’ve had heated exchanges with both teams, with FTR being their opponents for the titles at last year’s All In event. Since adopting their new heel personas, they’ve been relentless in their pursuit of dominance within AEW, and numerous groups have attempted to halt their reign without success. Currently, The Elite holds a significant amount of power in AEW, with three sets of titles among them. However, this could shift in less than two weeks when the TNT Championship is also on the line, with a major stipulation attached during the event in London.

Tonight on AEW Dynamite, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson defend their titles against Max Caster and Anthony Bowens of The Acclaimed. Early in the match, the Bucks used their EVP power to control their opponents, sending Billy Gunn backstage. This allowed them to continue without much resistance. However, it was FTR who ultimately caused The Acclaimed’s loss, interfering and potentially setting up a three-way match at AEW All In. Backstage, Christopher Daniels clarified the situation, revealing that FTR and The Acclaimed will compete against each other next week on AEW Collision for a chance to challenge for titles at AEW All In.

As an avid fan, I’m thrilled to share that AEW Interim EVP Christopher Daniels has officially announced some exciting news about the AEW World Tag Team Titles for this coming Saturday night during AEW Collision. Don’t miss out on #AEWDynamite LIVE on TBS! You can thank me later, @facdaniels. 😉

If FTR emerges victorious, it marks their fifth encounter in a Tag Team Championship bout. They are clearly each other’s most formidable adversaries, but given that their last tag team battle occurred last year, it seems somewhat repetitive. Their previous tag team showdown transpired at AEW Dynasty in April, a ladder match for the vacant Tag Titles which Darby and Sting retained from Revolution. At one instance, they equaled the Jacksons’ AEW Tag Title record at two, but subsequently, the Bucks claimed their third title. The Acclaimed have engaged the Young Bucks numerous times throughout their careers, with their initial encounter taking place when they were still AEW Dark talents yet to secure a set of titles collectively. Since then, they have clinched both the Tag and Trios Championships.
