As a seasoned wrestling enthusiast with decades of fandom under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and excitement as I witness the build-up to MJF vs Will Ospreay at AEW All In. Having grown up in the UK, I’ve had the privilege of attending numerous wrestling events across the country, including some in Cardiff, where the energy was electric on this particular night.
Prior to their highly-anticipated title bout at AEW All In, MJF and Will Ospreay had a confrontation on AEW Dynamite in Cardiff, Wales. As Ospreay’s theme played and he strutted into the ring, cheers erupted from the crowd. On the other hand, MJF received boos as he mocked the fans in his mismatched stars and stripes attire. You might remember that a few weeks ago, MJF defeated Ospreay to claim the International Championship in a grueling match close to 60 minutes. However, it was what he did afterward that caused quite a stir among many backstage. He announced the new “American Championship,” an action that some felt devalued the International title.
During an interview with ComicBook, Orange Cassidy pointed out that he found it disrespectful when MJF vandalized the title. Ospreay concurred and requested a rematch, which was granted for AEW All In this Sunday, August 25th. At the event, Ospreay spoke about his wrestling past in the town, using specific references that only local fans would comprehend (such as the Barry Scott Cillit Bang reference), and stated that he’s going to tidy up MJF’s mess on Sunday. The champion wasn’t pleased with Ospreay’s comments, labeling him arrogant and asserting that the crowd chants his name louder than Ospreay’s twice over.

The wrestling hall of famers highly regard MJF, considering him the world’s best wrestler. This puts Ospreay in a lofty position. However, Ospreay disregards fan opinions, thinking they are uninformed about wrestling. He confronts his opponent aggressively, accusing him of ruining the fans’ affection until he arrived. When MJF starts mentioning Will’s family, particularly his wife and stepson, Will seeks advice from Tony Schiavone regarding the fine for punching MJF in retaliation.
In a turn of events, when Tony Khan agrees to pay 100,000 pounds ($127,000 dollars), he deems it a worthy investment and proceeds accordingly. MJF retaliates with an attack of his own, striking him with the Dynamite diamond ring followed by a brainbuster. He then addresses the camera, simulating a three-count as he pins Ospreay, hinting at what he anticipates will unfold on Sunday.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m all geared up! The epic AEW All In event is set to unfold this Sunday, August 25th, kicking off at 12 p.m. ET. Keep your fingers crossed and stay glued to ComicBook for the latest scoops and updates on AEW. Let’s witness the action together!
