As a long-time gamer and wrestling enthusiast, this news about AEW moving its pay-per-views to Max has me more excited than a kid on Christmas morning! I’ve been following AEW since its inception, and I’ve always wished for an easier way to access their content – especially the weekly shows and those epic pay-per-views.
It appears that All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is edging closer to a new television contract, and fresh reports suggest that AEW’s pay-per-views could be shifting to a new streaming platform from January 2025, as per Andrew Zarian from the Mat Men Podcast. If this information proves accurate, AEW pay-per-views will soon be accessible on Max. While they can still be bought elsewhere like currently, Max will serve as their permanent home for those who prefer a one-stop streaming service. This move could lead to numerous AEW fans subscribing to the platform before their first pay-per-view in 2025.
Why This Matters
Many AEW enthusiasts have longed for the company to secure a platform for streaming their content, including both archived episodes and pay-per-view events. In contrast, WWE has established a partnership with Peacock, which offers access to older WWE content as well as new documentaries and specials. This is on top of the numerous WWE pay-per-views available annually.
In essence, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) doesn’t offer an easy access method to watch their weekly content on platforms like Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision, unlike older pay-per-views which can be purchased through various means. However, if the Max deal goes through and includes a portion of their library, this issue will be resolved.
Max Gets a Boost
Warner Bros. Discovery aims for Max to remain a go-to platform offering unique shows not found elsewhere. Their lineup currently features popular titles such as House of the Dragon, Hacks, True Detective, Harley Quinn, White Lotus, Dune Prophecy, Hard Knocks, and most recently The Penguin. Upcoming shows include Creature Commandos, The Gilded Age, IT: Welcome To Derry, The Pitt, Duster, new seasons of Just Like That, and the highly anticipated second season of The Last of Us from DC Studios.
It’s always beneficial to have fresh, unique content, and AEW certainly has a wealth of it. From their pay-per-views to weekly shows (possibly including a new one), AEW consistently delivers original content that should keep Max engaged even during other significant projects. As 2025 approaches, looking set to be a pivotal year for AEW, having a streaming platform for even just their pay-per-views will be a valuable addition.
