AEW Star Pictured in Cast After AEW Collision Injury

As a devoted fan of AEW, I was absolutely devastated to learn about Skye Blue’s unfortunate injury during her match against Hikaru Shida at the recent Collision taping. The sudden ending of their contest left me and many other fans worried and concerned for the young wrestler’s well-being.

On the June 20th episode of AEW Collision, a match between Hikaru Shida and Skye Blue was unexpectedly concluded. During this encounter, Shida executed a suicide dive which caused Blue to land on her hip or leg. The referee intervened promptly to allow doctors to assess Blue’s condition, as it appeared she had sustained an ankle injury. AEW President Tony Khan subsequently addressed the concerned fans via Twitter: “The previous match ended + @shidahikaru was declared the winner, due to an ankle injury suffered by @Skyebyee. Medical professionals are currently examining her; we’re sending our best wishes.”

Afternoon update: Today, Blue’s wrestling companion Kyle Fletcher posted a picture of Blue resting at home with her injured leg wrapped. “Doctor Kyle is working on her now,” Kyle excitedly announced. Blue’s dynamic in AEW over the past few months has been noteworthy since her heel turn, teaming up with Julia Hart. In May, she faced both previous and current TBS Champions, Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Mon?. Fans have shown immense support for the 24-year-old, potentially indicating a significant role in AEW’s future plans.

At the scene of the Collision recording, onlookers among the audience captured the following events: crew members aided an injured woman, lifting her leg and guiding her backstage. Her expression suggested intense agony, yet spectators expressed sympathy by clapping and voicing encouragement.

we got her home everyone, doctor Kyle on the clock

Since joining AEW in 2021, Blue has had an on-again, off-again tenure. Last spring, she earned her “All Elite” graphic recognition. Initially a consistent performer on AEW Dark, Blue flourished as a character there. However, when AEW Dark was phased out, it became evident that the women’s division required more development. In response, AEW signed up-and-coming talents like Mariah May and Blue. At this August’s AEW All In event, Mariah faces her former mentor, Toni Storm, for the Women’s World Championship. Known for her daring, brutal brawling in AEW, Blue has featured prominently in several hardcore matches.

Comicbook wishes Blue the best in her recovery.
