AEW Teases Star’s Long Awaited Return to TV

As a dedicated fan who’s been through the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with following Kenny Omega’s career, I must admit I’m beyond excited for his imminent return to AEW! It’s been an eternity since we last saw him on our screens, and just the thought of having him back is enough to make my heart race.

Tonight on AEW Dynamite’s Holiday Bash episode, fans finally got to hear Kenny Omega’s name chanted again. AEW hinted at his long-anticipated return to TV, but they didn’t just drop it in commentary and leave it at that. They discussed an upcoming match of his in Tokyo, followed by a complete video package for the Elite member. The crowd was so excited, thinking he was already present. His imminent return is generating immense excitement among AEW fans, leaving them thrilled beyond words.

The brief scene showcased Kenny Omega’s numerous achievements within AEW before concluding with his emblem, and then Excalibur continued, offering additional insights. “Kenny Omega is set to return to AEW soon. I’m eagerly anticipating the audience’s response for him, the Tokyo homecoming, but even more so, his return here in All Elite Wrestling.

At Wrestle Dynasty, which features collaboration among AEW, CMLL, Ring of Honor, and Stardom, Omega will step back into the ring for the first time in a year. His opponent will be Gabe Kidd, current NJPW Strong Champion, after Omega issued the challenge at Power Struggle. Many fans were taken aback to see Omega’s return at an event that wasn’t solely an AEW show, but AEW is part of the Wrestle Dynasty lineup.

Kenny Omega’s next match at Wrestle Dynasty is scheduled for January 5th. Therefore, it seems reasonable to anticipate his permanent comeback to AEW after this date, though potential follow-up events or storylines may cause a slight delay in his return. We’ll simply have to keep an eye on the developments unfolding post-match.

At Power Struggle, Omega disclosed the motivations for his comeback and the factors leading to his ring appearance at Wrestle Dynasty. In an interview with Fightful, he explained that he felt there was an obligation towards New Japan Pro-Wrestling and a diminishing necessity for him in All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

As someone deeply rooted in the world of film, I must confess that many weren’t aware of my existence until I made waves in New Japan. Therefore, I owe an immense debt of gratitude to New Japan. This sense of obligation isn’t just about words; it’s a feeling that compels me to find a way, somehow, someway, to give back. Performing at the Tokyo Dome and making my comeback there feels like the perfect opportunity to begin repaying this debt.

If my actions could benefit someone’s business, I’d be thrilled to participate. Naturally, you might wonder why not AEW initially, since it’s the company I co-founded and am contractually bound to. However, there’s nothing amiss with AEW at all – it’s just that everything is running smoothly there currently. I believe there’s a place for everyone who works diligently on those programs.

Omega stated that everyone has put in tremendous effort to secure and maintain their positions within the organization. He admitted that if he were to casually rejoin and demand a spot, it would be unfair to the current team members. Instead, he feels content with AEW’s success and believes they don’t require his presence at this time. Consequently, he has decided to return to New Japan Pro-Wrestling for now.
