View Urgent ForecastBryan Danielson, also known as The American Dragon, revived his signature “Yes!” cheers. In July, he trademarked this famous phrase and used it frequently on TV in the lead-up to his title fight against Swerve Strickland at AEW ALL IN: London. During their battle at Wembley Stadium, the crowd broke into “Yes!” chants, with Danielson encouraging them and Strickland mocking them. In the end, Danielson emerged victorious, claiming the AEW World Championship for the first time. This victory extended his active wrestling career a bit longer. Since then, he has continued to use the “Yes!” cheers on AEW shows but hasn’t yet branded the phrase on any merchandise
WWE Sent Bryan Danielson Legal Letter Following Yes! Trademark
The American Dragon’s former employer met his Yes! with a No.
In conversation with Luke James Chats, AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson disclosed that WWE delivered a legal notice to him after he submitted an application to register the phrase “Yes! Yes! Yes!” as a trademark in July
Danielson stated, “I put in an application for it, but later received a legal letter from the WWE, not exactly a cease and desist, more like a notice of some kind. It’s peculiar because my manager messaged me saying, ‘Hey, is this item up for grabs? Are you interested?’ I asked about the price, and it seemed reasonable. So, I agreed to get it. Soon after, I received an email from WWE informing me that what I had acquired was infringing on their rights or something similar.”
In Summer 2021 when Danielson joined AEW, he stated he would honor WWE’s copyrighted material but avoid Yes! chants. Instead of his usual Yes! chants shuffle during his entrance, he adopted a straightforward pose with extended arms. However, on a few occasions, such as his match against Kazuchika Okada at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 event, he broke this unspoken rule and led Yes! chants. He explained to ComicBook that it was due to desperation, as he had injured his arm during the bout and felt the need to re-energize the crowd
Regardless of when and where he’s used the Yes! chant, it has always been just that, a chant.
Danielson clarified, “I’m not pushing any products on people,” referring to the absence of Yes! branding in his merchandise. “I simply focus on what I do.”
At the upcoming AEW All Out event on September 7th, Danielson will be defending his AEW World Championship title against Jack Perry
