As a long-time wrestling enthusiast who has witnessed the careers of countless grapplers, I can honestly say that Bryan Danielson‘s journey is one for the ages. With over two decades in the business and a resume that includes independent wrestling madness to WWE stardom, and now AEW’s latest sensation, his story is nothing short of incredible.
As a die-hard gamer, I’m pumped to share that in just a few weeks, AEW star Bryan Danielson will be stepping into the ring for one of his final full-time matches. Over the past year, he’s been open about wanting to spend more quality time with his loved ones, and 2024 marks his “Final Countdown.” Even though we might not see him as often, he’s made it clear that he won’t be entirely leaving the scene.
Prior to his title battle with Swerve Strickland for the AEW Championship at AEW All In, Danielson disclosed that it’s highly probable he’ll undergo neck surgery again by the end of 2024. Back in 2016, a string of injuries due to repeated concussions forced him to retire from wrestling. After his surgery, he continued with WWE as part of the roster in a managerial position. However, once his contract ended, Danielson made an unexpected return to AEW only a few months later.
Following a quarter-century in his profession, Bryan Danielson believes he’s never been more mentally robust! However, the question remains: can his body endure the formidable TEST presented by AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland at #AEWALLIN!?

When asked by WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross about his numerous injuries throughout his 20-year career and what he tends to focus on when it comes up, Danielson quickly mentions his neck as the primary concern. “Primarily, I consider my neck and the concussions associated with it, as things that give me pause or require extra vigilance when stepping into the ring,” he added, acknowledging that he also reflects on how his body has endured and served him well despite the rigorous physical demands over the years.
Many wrestlers who have been in the sport for a long time haven’t performed the extreme stunts I did on the independent circuits to grab attention. Reflecting on it now, I often wonder, ‘what was I thinking?’ However, that was necessary at the time. And, considering my current state and the future, I realize that I might need neck surgery before this year ends. That’s simply the reality, and it’s something I’ve come to accept – it’s approaching soon.
