AEW’s Darby Allin Puts Title Shot on the Line Against Mox on Dynamite

AEW's Darby Allin Puts Title Shot on the Line Against Mox on Dynamite

As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours navigating the virtual wrestling universe, tonight’s AEW Dynamite was a rollercoaster ride that kept me on the edge of my seat. The tension between Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson has been brewing for quite some time, and it reached its boiling point tonight.

Tonight’s AEW Dynamite revolved around Jon Moxley, who was seeking to justify his aggressive actions towards Bryan Danielson. His actions left Danielson being carried out on a stretcher, yet Moxley appeared unapologetic in his explanation. Instead, he further justified his actions and hinted that conflict is the only path forward for the BCC. This provoked a clash with Darby Allin, contrary to some expectations, Moxley didn’t try to enlist Allin into his cause. The exchange between them culminated in Allin’s chance at the World Title being put on the line at Grand Slam.

War Is Coming

In the beginning of Dynamite, Moxley spoke about his actions towards Danielson. He acknowledged Danielson as a remarkable wrestler and role model, but also highlighted that Danielson’s peaceful and patient approach didn’t bring about change or reduce the chaos in AEW. Moxley hinted at major changes on the horizon and stated that the only path forward is through total conflict – his way of war.

Moxley remained tight-lipped about the specifics of the upcoming alterations, and some of the enigmatic hints in his recent broadcasts left viewers puzzled. However, he did reiterate his desire to engage with Darby Allin personally once more. After several weeks of being challenged, Allin finally responded later in the episode, but few could have predicted the outcome of their encounter.

You’re Not Ready

In response to Moxley’s challenge, Moxley and Marina Shafir made their way into the ring to confront Allin. When Moxley stepped into the ring, he began speaking, but Allin interjected first, expressing his admiration for Moxley dating back to the start of his wrestling journey. They had crossed paths initially on the independent circuit, and Allin admired Moxley’s independence and unwillingness to compromise, although he feels that Moxley’s recent actions towards Danielson have altered this perception.

In a surprising turn of events, Allin informed Moxley that his actions towards Danielson made him no longer admire him, as someone who considers another person like family wouldn’t act in such a way. This was when Moxley countered with an unexpected proposition to Allin – he wanted Allin to grant him a Title match. Allin questioned Moxley’s intelligence and whether he was under the influence again, for there was no logical reason for him to relinquish that opportunity. Moxley then restrained Shafir, and Allin challenged Mox, stating if he truly wanted it, he would have to fight for it himself.

Moxley proposed a battle over the title opportunity to Allin, explaining that Allin fails to grasp what’s going on backstage. Moxley further stated that Allin wasn’t prepared for a World Title fight then and isn’t now, but he was doing him a kindness. However, after the challenge, Allin accepted the match, making it an official event at AEW Grand Slam.
