AEW's Mercedes Moné Makes a Statement with TBS Title Win at All Out

As a seasoned gamer of professional wrestling, I’ve seen my fair share of matches, but the TBS Championship bout between Mercedes Moné and Hikaru Shida at All Out was nothing short of spectacular! It was a rollercoaster ride from start to finish, with both ladies showcasing their skill and determination.

Mercedes Mon wasn’t particularly happy when AEW barred Kamille from being present at ringside for her TBS Championship match at All Out, but her opponent Hikaru Shida was delighted about it. This meant that Shida and Mon would have a one-on-one encounter without any outside interference. Some spectators had anticipated that Kamille might disrupt the pay-per-view tonight, but surprisingly, this didn’t happen.

Hit the Ground Running

Immediately following the bell’s toll, Mon raced straight towards Shida. Keeping Shida off-balance and denying her any solid footing was Mon’s strategy. In the corner, Mon stepped on Shida, followed by a rapid series of blows to the head. However, Shida retaliated with four consecutive dropkicks that pushed Mon back. Subsequently, Shida applied a submission hold in the center of the ring, attempting to maintain control over Mon. Nonetheless, Mon managed to seize the ropes and break free from the hold.

Mon returned with force, causing Shida to stumble and struggle to rise again. Mon followed up with kicks and a powerful blow in the corner, then applied a chokehold while pressing her knees into Shida’s back. Mon delivered a double knee drop to the abdomen and attempted a cover, but Shida managed to kick out. Remaining relentless, Mon locked in another hold, and it took Shida some time to stand up once more.

In the end, Shia rose from her seat and forcefully pushed Mon down, yet Mon managed to block Shia’s kick and retaliated by kicking the back of Shida’s leg instead. Suddenly, Shida performed an unexpected hurricanrana. Trying to continue with another move, Shida found herself pressed against the corner by Mon, effectively halting her momentum. Moments later, Mon was propelled into the turnbuckle, and Shida responded with a powerful missile dropkick to regain control of the situation.

Too Close to Call

Shida rocked the Champ with a strike to the head but Mon? turned things around quickly by locking in a submission. Shida got to the bottom rope and broke it up, and then hit a nasty lariat that sent both to the mat. Mon? taunted a bit and Shida came right back with a bevy of strikes that knocked the Champ to the mat. Shida followed with a huge knee and then went up top. Mon? hit the sunset flip into a power bomb and then hit the double knees and went for a pin, but somehow Shida kicked out of that killer combo.

Initially, Mon joined forces with the Three Amigos, ascended to the ring, and attempted a Meteora move. However, Shida swiftly raised her knees to counter it. Subsequently, Shida launched two consecutive Falcon Arrows, followed by another that led to a pin attempt. Remarkably, Mon managed to kick out before the count reached three. Shida then aimed for the knee with a Dragon Screw and followed up with a backstabber. In response, Shida executed a German Suplex and a knee strike for a cover, but once more, Mon miraculously kicked out.

In an intense showdown, Shia overwhelmed Mon with a massive knee attack, followed by two more blows. However, just as Shia was about to declare victory, Mon skillfully rolled out of the ring onto the floor before being counted out. A fierce struggle ensued between the two for possession of the Kendo Stick, but Shida ultimately came out on top. With the Kendo Stick in her grasp, the referee continuously urged her to let go or face disqualification. Ignoring his warnings, Shida tapped the mat with the Kendo Stick before releasing it and attempting a Meteora maneuver from the top rope. Unfortunately, she landed heavily on her knee. Capitalizing on this opportunity, Mon executed a chop block on Shia’s knee and followed through with the Mon Maker for the pin, successfully retaining her TBS Championship.
