AEW's Orange Cassidy Calls Out MJF for the American Championship (Exclusive)

As a gamer who’s been following the wrestling scene for quite some time now, I can confidently say that Orange Cassidy has been one of the most intriguing characters AEW has to offer. His unique style and charm have captivated fans across generations.

Orange Cassidy has been one of AEW’s most captivating figures over the last five years, attracting fans of all ages with his unique wrestling technique. Recently, he’s found himself in a compelling position within AEW following Trent Beretta’s betrayal of Best Friends and their encounter at AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door. Currently, he is teamed up with Tomohiro Ishii, Kyle O’Reilly, and Mark Briscoe, a group often referred to as The Conglomeration.

In an interview with ComicBook at San Diego Comic-Con, Cassidy shared his upcoming plans in AEW and mentioned the top rival he’s eager to square off against who he hasn’t yet. At the top of his wish list is none other than the current AEW American Champion, MJF, due to his disrespectful actions towards the International Championship.

Cassidy explained that he doesn’t enjoy fighting or getting hurt, so he prefers to avoid tough situations when possible. However, if necessary, he will step up. Recently, MJF has been behaving badly and damaging the prestige of the International Championship. If not for Will Ospreay intervening, Cassidy would have taken action against MJF himself, implying that MJF is now on his list of people to confront.

Cassidy has been a two-time AEW International Champion, with one title reign being the longest on record. Currently, he stands second in terms of longest reigns. These two competitors have previously met in the ring, specifically during the Dynamite Diamond Ring Finals in 2020. At this point in their careers, they’ve both ascended to top positions within AEW, demonstrating significant growth and development as professional wrestlers.

As a diehard wrestling fan, I’m thrilled to share that this weekend, MJF and Cassidy will both shine on the AEW All In pay-per-view. However, they won’t be squaring off against each other. Instead, MJF is set to defend his American Championship against Will Ospreay, a rising star from the U.K., whom he previously bested for the title. On the other hand, Cassidy snagged a coveted spot in the Casino Gauntlet, paving the way for a potential championship opportunity. With AEW All Out just around the corner, it seems their matches might take place there. Interestingly, this will be his second and only time competing in a World title match in AEW – he previously battled Kenny Omega and PAC at AEW Double or Nothing.

Stay tuned to ComicBook for news and updates on AEW.
