During AEW’s Maximum Carnage edition of Dynamite, there were several delightful surprises, including some returns that weren’t expected but certainly welcomed. One of the main events was the Women’s Casino Gauntlet match, and it was Toni Storm who ultimately triumphed, securing a Title rematch against Mariah May. Although fans were thrilled with Storm’s victory in the inaugural Women’s Casino Gauntlet match, they expressed their displeasure on social media about the women’s match being shorter than the men’s match that took place last week.
Let me clarify: The Men’s Casino Gauntlet Match held similar high stakes (a chance to win the World Championship) and lasted for approximately 26 minutes and 33 seconds. In contrast, tonight marked the debut of the Women’s Casino Gantlet Match, where it was completed by 7 women in about 14 minutes and 20 seconds – a difference of around 12 minutes compared to the men’s match.
It’s disappointing that the GAUNTLET match lasted less than 15 minutes, especially since the men had 25.”
“Booking the first women’s casino gauntlet match to run for only 15 minutes instead of giving it more time and attention, especially when there were other matches going on like another Christian/Hook bout and Mox vs. Hobbs, is very typical of Tony Khan.
IT IS TONI TIME!!!!BUT WILL IT BE IN BRISBANE!#AEWDynamite #MaximumCarnage is LIVE on TBS and max

@fight4ever.bsky.social expressed delight about the Women’s Gauntlet match being as enjoyable as anticipated, despite wishing it had been longer. However, they appreciated how effectively the time was utilized, making the experience quite satisfying. #AEWDynamite
@beardedrogue.bsky.social said, ‘I knew Toni was victorious, yet it was still an exceptional match. I wish there had been more opportunities for women, but what we saw was nothing short of incredible! This team has potential to accomplish even greater feats and deserves another chance to prove themselves! #AEW
It’s hard to believe the female competitors only got less than 15 minutes. This is unacceptable, especially since MJF and Jarrett didn’t need such a long match duration. The gauntlet could have been extended if their segment wasn’t so prolonged. I understand if Jarrett is a regular wrestler in AEW, but he isn’t. The women, who are the mainstays of AEW, deserve more time and better treatment. Come on, AEW, step up your game!
During the game, although it ended sooner than anticipated, the caliber of talent on display was exceptional yet again, with Jamie Hayter and Kris Statlander taking the lead. Later on, AEW reintroduced Megan Bayne, the powerful contender, who engaged in some exciting exchanges with performers such as Julia Hart and Harley Cameron. Notably, Toni Storm was also involved. In the end, it was Storm who defeated Hart to win the Gauntlet, securing a rematch against May. However, this time it won’t be Timeless Toni; instead, we’ll have to watch how Rookie Storm performs when they meet again.
I’d love to hear your thoughts about the Women’s Casino Gauntlet and Storm’s victory! Share your wrestling insights with me over at Bluesky @knightofoa!
