As a long-time wrestling fan and follower of Ricochet’s career, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and sadness following his official departure from WWE. For years, I’ve been in awe of his high-flying moves and captivating performances, both in WWE and on the independent circuit.
Ricochet is now a free agent after officially parting ways with WWE on July 1st. His departure came following weeks of speculation, with reports suggesting he had given notice and planned to leave when his contract expired. This marked the most high-profile exit from WWE since Jon Moxley (formerly Dean Ambrose) left in Spring 2019. Since then, fans have connected Ricochet to AEW due to many of his former rivals being part of that company’s roster. AEW President Tony Khan has declined to comment on the matter while Ricochet was still under WWE’s payroll.
Tony Khan Praises Ricochet Following Official WWE Departure
After Ricochet’s tenure with WWE came to an end, Tony Khan expressed appreciation for him as a free agent.

Will Osprey is one of NJPW’s rivals who has recently joined All Elite. In an interview with ComicBook earlier this year, Ospreay expressed admiration for Ricochet and urged him to have faith in himself when his WWE contract ends. Khan recognizes the exceptional matches Ricochet and Ospreay produced during their series of singles bouts in the mid-2010s and has praised those encounters.
As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but be blown away by these incredible matches I’ve been witnessing. Ricochet is truly phenomenal, both as a solo star and as part of a tag team. His rivalry with Will Ospreay in New Japan Pro Wrestling was nothing short of amazing. The connection they have, both inside and outside the ring, really shines through during their matches. It’s a friendship built on respect and competition that makes for some truly unforgettable moments.
