Agatha All Along: All the Songs in the First Two Episodes

As someone who has been immersed in music for as long as I can remember, it’s always fascinating to see how different compositions resonate with various audiences and in unexpected contexts. The soundtrack of Agatha All Along is a perfect example of this, with its eclectic mix of genres that beautifully complements the show’s enchanting narrative.

In simpler terms, the TV series titled “Agatha All Along” doesn’t hesitate to incorporate popular songs from the start, and it looks like more tunes are on the way throughout the show. This week, Marvel Studios embarked on a musical journey with the audience along “The Witches’ Road,” creating quite an exciting playlist for the ride. It appears they had a hunch that “The Ballad of the Witches Road” would be well-received. What’s more, viewers are enjoying the nostalgic tracks that have been included as well. The first episode of “Agatha All Along” has certainly sparked excitement for the upcoming episodes, as fans try to identify the artists and anticipate what’s next in the series.

Instead of primarily emphasizing “Agatha All Along,” the catchy tune from WandaVision that’s been trending, the new Disney+ series leans more towards using real-world music for its soundtrack. (To put it simply, the theme songs for each era in WandaVision were standout moments throughout the series.) In addition to the hit song by Donovan, there are some intriguing selections like Kuljit Sing Bhamra, Blackhand, and Natalie Poole that will keep you hooked until our journey along The Witches Road continues next week. Give each of these songs a listen as they’re sure to linger in your mind right here below!

“The Ballad of the Witches’ Road”

As a devoted fan, I can’t contain my excitement about D23 this year! While there were plenty of Marvel surprises, it was especially thrilling for Agatha enthusiasts like me to get our first glimpse of the enchanting musical number, “The Ballad of the Witches’ Road.” The captivating performance by Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, and the entire cast truly brought this song to life. This ballad serves as the foundation for Agatha All Along, encapsulating the narrative while paving the way for Agatha’s perilous journey ahead. And let me tell you, with Patti LuPone lending her extraordinary voice to a Marvel show, I simply can’t wait to see what unfolds!

“The Ballad of the Witches’ Road (True Crime Version)”

The primary plot twist in Episode 1 revolves around the fact that Agatha Harkness is yet to be freed from the enchantment she was subjected to at the end of WandaVision. As part of her penance, she’s been existing in a fabricated world reminiscent of a hard-boiled police drama. The series’ central character, Detective Agnes O’Connor, is a no-nonsense type, and the clever presentation of the show’s theme song as if it were opening credits is amusing upon rewatching.

“The Night Is Ours” – David Gerard Lawrence and Charles Morton

Based on the trailers for Agatha All Along, it appears that the show will feature tunes reminiscent of ’70s pop and easy listening radio hits throughout its duration, as if being played from an AM/FM radio powered by at least 4 D batteries. This tune seems to blend seamlessly with the witchy atmosphere Marvel Studios and showrunner Jac Schaeffer are meticulously creating for this production.

“Season Of The Witch” – Donovan

At the end of Agatha’s first episode, “Season Of The Witch” seems less like a random song selection and more like a declaration of purpose. Notably, this track is taken from the album titled “Sunshine Superman“. This 1967 classic has left a significant imprint on pop culture, making it one of the defining psychedelic pop songs from any era. It’s rewarding to see that audiences who may not have been familiar with it get a grand introduction through “Agatha All Along“.

“On My Mind” – Blackhand

It turns out this band isn’t a novice in the Marvel realm; one of their tunes was featured in Ms. Marvel. This time around, they’re delving into something more chilling. However, it seems Blackhand has been dealt an unusual deck as their music plays when Teen’s significant other calls, sparking countless Hulk-related speculations on social media.

“Visions” – Plastic People

In a nod to the 1970s, Plastic People’s debut album brims with vintage charm as its tracks are skillfully crafted using contemporary technology of the era. The song you’re referring to, along with others, features the trio of Andre Frutuoso, Joao Goncalo, and JT weaving a catchy alternative tune that heavily employs synthesizers to evoke a nostalgic vibe. If this kind of sound appeals to you in any way, I strongly recommend giving their album “Visions” a spin!

“Karakoram” – Kuljit Singh Bhamra

Kuljit Singh Bhamra primarily plays the tabla, and the song “Karakoram” starts with a note that is filled with tension. The additional elements of psychedelia, as well as the influence from Bhangra and Indian Classical music, make this song stand out. It’s pleasing to notice this track finding its place in the soundtrack for Agatha All Along.

“All Odds” and “The Gallery” – Wild Signals

In Episode 2, Noel Brydebell, Nicole Ridgely, Josh Renkow, and Ben Keysaer deliver a blend of dream pop and shoegaze tunes that align perfectly with the show’s aesthetic vision. The creative team seems to appreciate their work, as these artists appear frequently in this episode. All in all, it’s an enjoyable listen. Remarkably, both tracks featured are from 2020, marking a productive year for Marvel Studios as they developed various projects.

“The Road to Happiness” – Natalie Poole

It seems like The Witches’ Road might not lead our secretive coven towards joy. At present, it’s quite elusive. However, there’s a possibility that the songstress makes further appearances on the soundtrack down the line.

“There’s a Road” – Kinney

As I delve deeper into Kinney’s music, it feels like I’m tapping into a consistent thread. There’s an undeniable singer-songwriter vibe with a rural witchy essence reminiscent of Agatha All Along. If you’re scouring social media and streaming platforms for this artist, give ‘So Glad You Exist,’ released in 2020, a listen if electronic-tinged atmospheric folk is your thing!

“The Ballad of the Witches’ Road (Sacred Chant Version)” – Kathryn Hahn, Shasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Debra Jo Rupp and Patti LuPone

Heading along, along, along the path. Journeying on the Witches Pathway. Here’s to an exciting adventure!
