Agatha All Along: All WandaVision Returning Characters

As a seasoned Marvel fan with years of binge-watching under my belt, I must say that “Agatha All Along” has managed to weave a delightful tapestry of nostalgia and anticipation. The first episode of this MCU series brings back familiar faces from the beloved Westview, reminding us of the captivating world we were left with at the end of WandaVision.

As a dedicated Marvel gamer, diving into the captivating world of “Agatha All Along” feels like stepping right back into Westview, a place I thought I’d never return to after the events of “WandaVision”. You see, Agatha Harkness, one of my favorite characters from that series, finds herself ensnared in another spell and believes she’s starring in a police procedural named “Agnes of Westview”. The storyline revolves around a murder mystery in their town, with the task of solving it falling on none other than Detective Agnes O’Connor. Her trusty sidekick in this endeavor is David Payton’s Herb.

Indeed, Aubrey Plaza’s character, Rio Vidal, makes an appearance and manages to persuade the Westview witch (Agatha) to escape from the prison that Wanda had confined her in. The finale of WandaVision revealed that Agatha would continue her life on television as a form of punishment for meddling with the Scarlet Witch. Now, having left the outdated Hex behind, she’ll need to regain her powers and confront Rio, along with any other adversaries who might be seeking to settle old scores based on past debts. If this is all we get in terms of returning citizens from Westview, it was satisfying to see them play a part in the initial stages of Agatha’s adventures. Here’s how things unfold:

Herb – David Payton

Right from the get-go in the premiere of “Agatha All Along,” it’s me, as a fan, who finds myself chuckling at Herb’s portrayal of the intriguing murder mystery. David Payton truly dives deep into the role, embodying Detective Agnes with her quirky, regional flair. Interestingly enough, the same actor also steps into the shoes of John Collins – a character we know as Herb from “WandaVision.” You’ll recall that their names were conjured by Wanda during their last Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance. Needless to say, everyone seems to be grappling with some residual trauma from that extraordinary event.

Ms. Hart – Debra Jo Rupp

After some time, viewers may have been questioning if they would get to see their beloved sitcom character in this initial episode. However, she unexpectedly arrives with a car, causing an accident that assists Agnes in capturing Joe Locke’s bothersome “Teen.” Given the promotional materials for Agatha All Along, it appears that Sharon will have a more significant part to play as Kathryn Hahn’s witch companion, helping her traverse The Witches’ Road.

Phil – David Lengel

In the town of Westview, Phil serves as the somewhat clumsy police chief. His responsibility lies in managing Agnes, whose work has a tendency to overwhelm her. The way he delivers his lines remains entertaining, and Dottie’s humorous remarks towards Harold at the episode’s end are sure to make you chuckle. A joyful comeback indeed!

Dottie – Emma Caulfield Ford

It’s clear that a WandaVision reunion wouldn’t feel complete without Elizabeth Olsen returning as Wanda. In the storyline, Agatha is investigating this mysterious Jane Doe and she finds herself at the Westview Library. Interestingly, Agatha seems to have a friendly rivalry with Kathryn Hahn’s character in every reality. The quick wit between these two characters is a delight for fans who appreciate the sharp humor of Dottie from WandaVision. As we previously mentioned, her scolding of Phil is absolutely hilarious.

Norm – Asif Ali

Indeed, Norm has returned! However, instead of just being a customer, he’s now the proprietor of the pawn shop situated in Westview. When Agatha encounters a trinket that seems strikingly familiar to her, she approaches Norm for his insights about it. Upon learning from him that the item is ancient and houses a lock of hair, she saves this detail for future use. In the closing moments, Ali makes a brief appearance, adding a humorous touch with a clever jogging joke.

Other Honorable Mentions

A friendly nod to Amos Glick, our mailman, who made an appearance in Westview last time, and Brian Brightman, the sheriff from the rival town. It seems they might make additional appearances. Additionally, Senor Scratchy could also be part of this segment. As for Wanda Maximoff, if she is resurrected at the end of this series, we should definitely keep an eye on that enigmatic woman…
