As a seasoned gamer and Marvel Universe enthusiast who has spent countless hours delving into the intricacies of alternate realities, I must admit that “Agatha All Along” has me thoroughly hooked! This week’s episode was nothing short of captivating, filled with suspense and unexpected twists.
In the latest installment of “Agatha All Along,” titled “If I Can’t Reach You/Let My Song Teach You,” Agatha and her coven encounter a series of challenges. They mourn the death of Sharon (Debra Jo Rupp), cope with Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza) joining as the new green witch, prepare for the second trial, and deal with Teen (Joe Locke) getting severely hurt during this trial. This injury seems to stir a sense of vulnerability in Agatha, causing her to ponder if Teen might be her long-lost son. However, this theory is swiftly dismissed, leaving his true identity uncertain. Could the possibility still linger? Let’s delve deeper into it.
In this episode, as Teen recuperates from wounds incurred during the trial, a circle of witches, including Agatha, huddle by the fire exchanging stories from their past. It’s then revealed that Rio’s “scar,” which she bears, is actually a person – a woman she had feelings for but who was unintentionally harmed while performing her duties. This leads to the strong implication that the woman in question is Agatha herself. During a quiet conversation between them, this is confirmed. However, before the two could reconcile, Rio suddenly shocks Agatha by saying “that child isn’t yours.
It appears that Rio is implying that the character known as Teen might not actually be Agatha’s son Nicholas Scratch, who was sacrificed in the past according to the storyline. This contradicts a widely held theory about Teen being Nicholas. However, it’s also possible that there are other factors at play. It’s important to note that Rio could potentially be lying, as she has a complicated history with Agatha, including both positive feelings and bad blood between them. So while Rio might genuinely believe that Teen isn’t Agatha’s son, she could also be using this information to cause further pain to the other woman.
There’s also the chance that Teen might biologically be Agatha’s son, yet due to her sacrificing him for the Darkhold, his soul may now belong to someone else, like Mephisto. In this scenario, although he’s her biological child, he might no longer be considered hers because of the spiritual bond with another entity. It’s also possible that we’re dealing with a character from an alternate reality in the MCU multiverse, where Teen could be Nicholas Scratch but not from our reality, which would make Rio’s statement true, despite him not being Agatha’s son biologically.
Of course, there is always the possibility that Rio is being straight with Agatha and Teen’s real identity is that of someone else, which means that we’re back at square one on sorting out who the character really is — but can do so with one possibility marked off the list.
Agatha All Along is now streaming on Disney+. New episodes arrive Wednesdays.
