Agatha All Along's Practical Sets Praised by Kathryn Hahn

As a die-hard Marvel fan who’s been following the studio since its inception, I must say that the latest featurette for “Agatha All Along” has me absolutely thrilled! The emphasis on practical set design harks back to the golden age of Halloween features, and it’s like Marvel Studios is making “The Goonies” right before our eyes.

The latest behind-the-scenes sneak peek showcases the realistic set construction in the new Marvel series, “Agatha All Along.” Marvel Studios shared glimpses of ‘The Witches’ Road’ on various platforms. Executive producers Brad Winderbaum and Mary Livanos emphasized the focus on creating authentic environments for the series, as opposed to digital backdrops like The Volume. Previously, Kevin Feige humorously mentioned that they were making something akin to “The Goonies” due to the vintage techniques being employed. This follows audience demands for more tangible sets instead of relying solely on digital effects in Marvel franchises

Winderbaum explained that all impacts on Agatha will be executed realistically. This includes the magical settings, the road itself, and the creatures they encounter during their journey, which have been designed to evoke the classic Halloween themes that strongly influence “Agatha All Along”

Mary Livanos, producer of Agatha All Along, expressed their enthusiasm for staying true to classic Hollywood filming methods. She marveled at the exquisite miniatures and backdrops used in the production. Hahn shared her admiration for the impressive work done by the design team, stating she was left in awe. The actress was equally amazed, expressing disbelief over the grandeur of the show’s scale

Fans of the show WandaVision are delighted to return to Westview, but the series’ lead actor credits showrunner Jac Schaeffer for resurrecting the unique atmosphere of WandaVision in the episode Agatha All Along. Schaeffer recognized that the Marvel Cinematic Universe character of Agatha, a witch, had an intriguing past that could flourish within Westview and branch out further. Agatha’s transformation offers a wealth of potential for future developments

Hahn mentioned that one key factor was that Jac Schaeffer was responsible for creating the character we see as Agatha, since Agatha is scattered across various comic worlds. The way Schaeffer developed this version of Agatha was skillfully done. It was crucial to both of them that it reflected the setting of Westview and the larger Westview universe, while also moving the story forward in a realistic manner. Essentially, it’s about her gaining not just her powers back, but their transformation. She undergoes a shift
