Age of Mythology Retold: How To Get Favour

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that Age of Mythology Retold has taken strategy gaming to a whole new level. The intricate mechanics and unique twists on classic strategies have kept me hooked for hours on end.

Favour is one of the most important resources in Age of Mythology Retold, and you will need tons of it no matter which civilization you play with. Unlike the other resources in this game, Favour must be earned, and the way to earn it will differ from civilization to civilization.

In this tutorial, we’ll explore the methods for gaining favor with every civilization in the revamped version of Age of Mythology.

Greeks

To win the Greeks’ goodwill, you should dispatch your villagers to a sacred site, where they will offer prayers to Greek deities. This act will automatically generate favor for you at a rate that increases with the number of villagers praying. A single villager generates 6 units of favor per minute, and adding more will increase the rate at which you accumulate favor.

As you assign more Villagers to a Temple, the benefits you gain from each additional Villager will gradually decrease. To maximize your rewards, aim to keep no more than 8 Villagers at each temple, as adding any more may result in the cost of using a Villager outweighing the Favor you receive.

Egyptians

To win the Egyptians’ goodwill, you need to construct particular landmarks. These landmarks will automatically increase your Favor over time.

There are a total of 5 monuments that you can build with the Egyptians to earn Favor. They are:

  1. Monument to the Villagers
  2. Monument to the Soldiers
  3. Monument to the Priests
  4. Monument to the Pharaohs
  5. Monument to the Gods

As a gamer in this ancient Egyptian game, I need to construct each monument in the order they’ve been listed for me to gain Favor points. The great thing is that once a monument stands tall, it continues to earn me favor without needing any more units committed. However, be warned, the later monuments demand an immense amount of resources, so managing my supplies wisely will be crucial in this grand endeavor!

Another way to enhance the speed at which you accumulate Favor is by boosting your monuments with Pharaohs and Priests, all under the guidance of Ra.

Norse

As a devoted follower of the Norse, I can boost my standing by participating in fierce battles against our foes. The speed at which I am rewarded with Favor hinges on the destruction I inflict. Not only does the type of combat unit I employ, but also the nature of my targets, influences the quantity of Favor granted to me.

After accumulating up to 100 units of Favor, the rate at which you earn additional Favor will gradually decrease, following a linear pattern, until it reaches 300 units. At this point, the earning rate will be reduced to half (0.5x) of the normal rate, meaning you’ll earn only half as much Favor as you would have under regular circumstances.

In games where you assume the role of the Norse people, it’s worth noting that they have a reputation for being fierce. This aggression translates into the game mechanics, so if you play in a bold and assertive manner, you will accumulate more Favor.

Atlanteans

To win the favor of the Atlanteans, you’ll need to employ the Oracle unit. By placing these Oracle units, you can explore a particular region, and the extent of the area they are investigating on your behalf will directly impact the amount of favor you accrue.

Oracle units can be positioned anywhere, but placing them at a distance from your base allows for broader scouting and increased Favor generation. However, it’s crucial to remember that Oracles are vulnerable to attack, so keeping them too far from your base leaves them unprotected. Additionally, if two Oracles are in the same scouting area, Favor will only be generated by one of them.

Atlanteans devoted to the deity Rheia and exploring the technology behind the Horns of Consecration can accrue Favor, but at a pace slightly slower compared to the Favor acquired through Oracles, via Town Centers.
