Age of Mythology: Retold PC requirements — Get your system ready for God Powers

As a tech enthusiast with years of gaming under my belt, I’m thrilled to share my thoughts on Age of Mythology: Retold, a game that promises to bring mythological battles to life like never before. With its improved graphics and reusable God Powers, it’s shaping up to be an epic experience for PC and Xbox Series X|S players alike.

Take a moment and check your computer to ensure it’s ready for a mythological rumble.

The highly anticipated Age of Mythology: Retold is set to arrive soon, offering players on both PC and Xbox Series X|S a fresh perspective on legendary encounters between Greek, Norse, Egyptian, and Atlantean mythologies. Witness the clash of heroes and monstrous beings as you harness divine powers in updated visuals.

As a tech-loving gamer, I’d certainly recommend checking the system requirements before diving into the newly released game. The updated version might demand a bit more power from your gaming setup to ensure an optimal experience.

Age of Mythology: Retold PC requirements

Created by World’s Edge and collaborating studios, Age of Mythology: Retold represents a significant advancement over the initial game. Innovative elements such as reusable Divine Powers enable an unprecedented level of devastation within the franchise that has never been seen before.

To play Age of Mythology: Retold smoothly on lower settings, make sure your system meets the essential requirements. While you may not be able to run it at high settings, you’ll still be able to savor the game experience.

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 645 or AMD Radeon Vega 8 or Intel Iris Graphics 550 or better
  • CPU: Intel i3-4130 or AMD FX 4350 at 2.4GHZ+ with 2 cores / 4 threads and AVX support
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • STORAGE: Unknown

In the meantime, though I don’t have comprehensive details at the moment, following the Recommended specifications is expected to offer a smoother user experience, with various settings optimized and a more stable frame rate.

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 570 or better
  • CPU: 3.6 Ghz i5 or greater or AMD equivalent and AVX support
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • STORAGE: Unknown

As a researcher examining this rebooted game, I find the system specifications surprisingly moderate, even for a modern title. If you’ve recently invested in or assembled a gaming PC, it seems unlikely that your hardware will struggle to run this game smoothly.

To ensure there’s enough space, I’d advise setting aside approximately 100 GB on a Solid State Drive (SSD), as we’re unsure of the exact storage requirements.

How to check your PC specs

It’s possible that you can’t recall the exact CPU model you installed on your computer, especially if it was a while ago. No worries, though! You can quickly discover the specifications of your Windows PC hardware at any time. Here’s how to do it:

  • Type dxdiag in your Windows taskbar.
  • Select dxdiag to run the diagnostic tool.
  • The system tab will show you memory information for your Windows PC.
  • The display tab has all the information on your graphics specs.

The nature of exactly what you’ve got will determine how easy or difficult it will be to upgrade your computer in order to play Age of Mythology: Retold at either higher settings or at all.

As someone who appreciates the smooth operation of my machine, upgrading from 8 GB of RAM to 16 GB (or more) is usually quite straightforward for me. In an extremely rare scenario where my graphics card isn’t powerful enough, I might be able to upgrade to a newer model. However, in the almost unheard-of event that my CPU is outdated, it’s high time I seriously contemplated constructing or purchasing a brand new computer altogether.

Can Age of Mythology: Retold run on gaming handhelds?

Instead of relying solely on gaming rigs and standalone computers, an increasing number of gamers have opted for portable devices such as the Steam Deck or ROG Ally. These handheld systems offer players the convenience of playing their favorite games wherever they go. Plus, cloud save features prevent loss of progress even when players predominantly play on a computer.

Although World’s Edge has yet to explicitly state that Age of Mythology: Retold will run on portable gaming devices, there are some strong indications based on the available information at this point in time.

Will Age of Mythology: Retold run on Steam Deck?

As an analyst, I can confidently say that the Steam Deck matches or surpasses the prerequisites for Age of Mythology: Retold in every aspect. In essence, if the game is optimized effectively for Proton (the software that enables the Steam Deck to run Windows games), then Age of Mythology: Retold should function seamlessly on this device.

Typically, strategy games can be quite challenging on Steam Deck because they require a mouse and keyboard. However, Age of Mythology: Retold stands out as it offers controller support for both PC and Xbox Series X|S consoles. This means players can enjoy the game just as they would with an Xbox controller.

Will Age of Mythology: Retold run on ASUS ROG Ally?

The ASUS ROG Ally boasts more powerful hardware than the Steam Deck, making it likely that it can smoothly run Age of Mythology: Retold without any hassle. Players may even be able to crank up a few settings and enjoy a smoother gameplay experience compared to the Steam Deck, particularly if they opt for the top-tier ASUS ROG Ally X model.

On September 4, 2024, the remake of Age of Mythology, titled “Age of Mythology: Retold,” will be released simultaneously on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. If you purchase the Premium Edition of the game, early access begins a week earlier on August 28. Notably, this game is included in both Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on their release day, just like other Xbox first-party titles.
