As someone who’s spent countless hours under the scorching sun of Ancient Egypt, I can confidently say that this Ra build order is the key to a prosperous and well-irrigated civilization! The strategy you’ve outlined here is not just a guide, but a testament to the wisdom of our ancestors.

In Age of Mythology: Retold, Ra stands out among the Major Gods for his distinctive trait – the power to summon rain.

In Ra’s realm, farmers enjoy twice the work efficiency due to rain, significantly increasing food production. Moreover, Ra boasts special abilities that enable his Pharaohs to enhance more structures, and even his priests can partake in this empowerment process. When utilized effectively, Ra demonstrates a remarkably swift pace of production compared to many other deities!

In this walkthrough, we’ll provide you with a construction sequence for Ra in the Age of Mythology: Retold, emphasizing methods to boost productivity primarily using Rain.

In your strategy for Ra in Age of Mythology: Retold, the first step is to instruct your first three workers to construct a Granary followed by gathering food. Instead, have your fourth worker build a Monument initially, then establish a Mining Camp. Once construction is complete, direct this worker to a Gold Mine. Your initial setup here will involve 3 workers focusing on Food and 1 on Gold.

At this stage, it’s essential to assign your ‘Priest’ to bolster the ‘Mining Camp’ and your ‘Pharaoh’ to enhance the ‘Granary’. This will boost the productivity of these structures from the get-go.

Afterward, consider assigning your next pair of civilians to Gold duty as well. Following that group of six civilians should head out to gather Food. Once you’ve got nine civilians focused on Food, any new arrivals should be directed toward Gold. This arrangement should hold until you accumulate the 150 Gold needed for the Temple.

Once you’ve accumulated 150 Gold, select two of your civilians and your priest from the Mining Camp. Then, direct them to construct a Temple, with your priest endowing it with power immediately. Meanwhile, have the third civilian from the Gold Mine focus on constructing a House.

After completing all construction tasks, here’s your population distribution: 9 civilians are working on food production, 4 are mining gold, 1 is at the temple as a priest, and 1 is at the granary as Pharaoh. Add one more civilian to the gold mine and transfer 6 civilians from food production to gold mining. This will result in having: 3 civilians working on food and 11 working on gold mining.

Now, you should be all prepared to progress into the Classical Age. Opt for Ptah as your Lesser Deity. As you move forward, transfer your Priest to boost the Granary and have your Pharaoh enhance the Mining Camp.

Early Classical Age

Once you enter the Classical Era, gather 4 of your Citizens from the Gold Mine and establish a Lumber Camp next to trees. From this point forward, task these 4 citizens with collecting Wood instead of Gold. Simultaneously, have the remaining citizens from the Gold Mine construct a Village Center.

Here’s where the secret to building your Ra character in Age of Mythology: Retold lies – you’ll be employing Rain to strengthen your Village Center. This tactic compensates for the Village Center’s slower production pace compared to Town Centers. Additionally, it’s more straightforward and secure to establish this way instead of rushing to get another Settlement immediately.

At this point, all that’s left is to get the following upgrades:

  • Pickaxe (50 Food, 120 Wood)
  • Shaduf (150 Wood, 10 Favor)
  • Husbandry (100 Wood, 50 Gold)
  • Plow (50 Wood, 100 Gold)

After initiating research on these upgrades, direct all of your Wood-collecting civilians towards the Gold Mine. Additionally, wait for your Food-gathering civilians to complete their collection from hunted animals. Once they’re free, transfer them to the Gold Mine as well, along with your Priest.

Late Classical Age and Beyond

To proceed effectively, it’s now time for you to fully embrace the agricultural lifestyle by establishing approximately 12 to 14 farms around your Town Center. Expand your community by constructing various dwellings and don’t forget to build an Armory. It would be beneficial to recruit a few new townsfolk to gather Wood, but prioritize focusing on Food and Gold resources as your progress. Lastly, remember to invoke Rain once you have completed setting up your farms, for optimal growth.

At this stage, you should have progressed quite deeply into the Classical Era, and there’s no strict building sequence to follow. The actions you take will largely depend on the strategies of other civilizations and the Minor Deities you prefer to align with as you progress further into the ages.

In Age of Mythology: Retold for this Ra build order, it’s crucial to construct Monuments whenever you have the chance, maximize the use of Rain casting, and assign Pharaohs to Empower the Monuments. This way, the effect extends to neighboring buildings due to Ra’s Mandjet ability. By doing so, you’ll significantly boost the productivity of your Farms with the combined benefits of Rain!
