Ahsoka Season 2 Filming Start Date Reportedly Revealed (And It’s Soon)

As a seasoned gamer of all things Star Wars and a devoted follower of Ahsoka Tano’s journey since her Clone Wars days, this news about Season 2 has sent my excitement levels through the roof! The fact that filming is set to start next year in the UK instead of LA is a fresh twist, and I can’t help but imagine the unique flavor it will bring to the series.

As a dedicated gamer eagerly anticipating the next chapter, I’m thrilled to share that the potential start date for Season 2 of “Ahsoka” has been unveiled! It seems we might be ready to hit the record button in April 2025, shifting the production base from the bustling streets of Los Angeles to the picturesque landscapes of the United Kingdom.

2023 saw the debut of Ahsoka’s first season on Disney+, initially marketed as a limited series. However, exciting news came this year when Lucasfilm announced that a second season is in production! As for when we can expect to watch it, no release date has been shared yet. Interestingly, Dave Filoni, the mastermind behind Lucasfilm as their Chief Creative Officer, has confirmed that he will be penning every episode for Ahsoka’s second season, much like he did for the first.

According to previous reports about the production schedule of Ahsoka Season 2, it appears that the show’s creator Dave Filoni may now have more time to devote solely to its development. Back in September, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, one of the series stars, stated that cameras wouldn’t start rolling until after Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian and Grogu (which Filoni co-wrote and produced) wrapped up. Although The Mandalorian and Grogu is not set to hit theaters until May 2026, it was reported in October that production on this project had already been completed. As a result, it looks like Filoni can now concentrate fully on finalizing Ahsoka’s Season 2 scripts as he prepares for its filming.

If the second season of “Ahsoka” stays on track, we can anticipate some significant news about the series in the coming weeks. So far, no new cast members have been announced. It’s likely that stars like Rosario Dawson, Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lars Mikkelsen, Eman Esfandi, and others will reprise their roles. However, it will be intriguing to see if any new characters will join the show. The creative team has a decision to make regarding Baylan Skoll, who was played by the late Ray Stevenson. Skoll survived the events of Season 1, with the finale hinting at exciting developments for his character; it’s possible that the role may be recast.

It’s intriguing that Lucasfilm is considering filming locations outside of The Volume for Ahsoka Season 2, hinting at some real-world shooting this time around. While The Volume is a groundbreaking technological advancement marking ILM’s next step forward, it has faced criticisms such as monotonous visuals and restricted space, indicating that it may not be the ultimate solution for all productions. Expanding Ahsoka Season 2’s filming methods should make the series feel more cinematic, capturing the epic scale and breadth associated with Star Wars.

If Ahsoka Season 2 starts filming in April, it’s likely we won’t catch the episodes until sometime in 2026. Since Season 1 was filmed from May to October 2022, it’s plausible that Season 2 will adhere to a similar schedule. This timing might influence when Filoni’s announced New Republic era movie gets underway. Given that Ahsoka Season 2 is yet to be completed, we can expect the movie project to take a backseat for now.
