As a seasoned cinephile with a penchant for British dramas and a soft spot for the 80s, I eagerly anticipate the Disney Plus adaptation of Rivals. Having immersed myself in the gritty world of Poldark, Aidan Turner’s performance as Declan O’Hara piqued my curiosity.
Aidan Turner expresses optimism, believing that fans of Jilly Cooper will discover much to appreciate in the Disney Plus adaptation of “Rivals.
Actor famed for his role in BBC’s Poldark portrays Declan O’Hara in a sultry TV show set against the chaotic backdrop of the 1980s television industry.
She expressed her hope that they would find it just as thrilling as we did during its creation, and also appreciate the visual aspect of it.
When you’re reading a book, you often form mental images of how the characters appear and their personalities.
Turner interjected: “I don’t think they’ll be disappointed.”
Turner later confessed that he hadn’t previously read Rivals before joining the Disney Plus adaptation project, yet he regarded Cooper’s work as a fresh, captivating genre that he found fascinating discovering.
He explained: “I was aware of who Jilly Cooper was, obviously, and being in Ireland, we’re not that far away and the book’s very popular there, obviously, but I hadn’t read any before we started shooting.
As an actor, it’s wonderful to have the opportunity to delve into such books. I wouldn’t have thought I would encounter them, as they were off my usual reading list, but I do, which is fascinating.
“You get to be introduced to a whole new genre, really, it’s fun.”
Alongside the stellar lineup in the series “Rivals,” you’ll find actors such as David Tennant, Alex Hassell, Katherine Parkinson, and Danny Dyer. Presently, they are gracing the exclusive alternate covers for special editions of the magazine TopMob.
