Air India Plane Crash: One Surviving Passenger Reportedly Found Alive

More information is emerging about the deadly plane crash in India.

Since the unfortunate crash of an Air India flight heading to London from Ahmedabad on June 12, it’s been reported that one passenger is amazingly still alive after the accident.

According to ANI News, Commissioner of Ahmedabad Police G.S. Malik reported that a single survivor was discovered in seat 11A. This individual is currently receiving medical care in a hospital; however, we cannot provide an estimate on the number of casualties at this time.

The individual sitting in seat 11A on the flight has been reported as British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh by local news outlets. NBC News verified that a passenger named Vishwash Kumar Ramesh was indeed seated in 11A, after matching with the flight’s passenger list, and relatives of Ramesh have informed Sky News that he is safe. According to Hindustan Times, Ramesh’s brother Ajay Kumar Ramesh was accompanying him during his visit to family in India; however, at present, Ajay has not been found.

Apart from Hindustan Times, another news source mentioned that a 40-year-old man with the same name as the alleged survivor held a boarding pass for the flight and sustained injuries to his chest, eyes, and feet due to an impact. He claimed to have told the outlet that just 30 seconds after takeoff, there was a loud sound followed by the plane crashing, and everything happened very rapidly.

Previously, Malik disclosed the estimated fatalities to the Associated Press, saying, “It seems nobody survived the plane crash.

Malik mentioned that the total number of fatalities would account for those on the plane and people on the ground at the moment of the crash. He said, “We are working to confirm the exact number of casualties.

As a dedicated follower of events, I can share that earlier today, Police Chief Kanan Desai reported to Reuters that at least 204 bodies have been retrieved from the crash site, with no survivors found thus far. The tragic incident involved a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner which landed on top of a doctor’s hostel, as per the information provided by a senior police official.

Apart from 12 crew members, the Air India flight also had 230 travelers aboard, with 160 of them being citizens of India, 53 being British citizens, a single individual hailing from Canada, and seven passengers originating from Portugal. This information was provided by Air India following the unfortunate incident.

As I closely followed the events unfolding, according to my personal observations based on NBC News reports, Flightradar24 signaled the loss of the aircraft’s transmission just moments after it took off into the skies.

After the unfortunate incident, Tata Group, who took over Air India in 2022, conveyed their deep sorrow by stating on platform X: “There are no words sufficient to capture the grief we experience at this time.

The organization has made a commitment to offer financial aid worth approximately $116,834 to families of the victims and cover medical costs for all injured individuals to ensure they receive proper care and assistance. Additionally, Tata Group has promised to aid in rebuilding the B J Medical’s hostel at the crash site.

Similarly, India’s Civil Aviation Minister, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, expressed his dedication to prompt and synchronized response in the case of emergency services.

He stated that emergency responders have been called into action [on X], and every possible measure is being taken to swiftly deliver medical assistance and relief resources to the location. I extend my sympathies and well-wishes to everyone involved, including the passengers and their loved ones.
