Air India has confirmed some tragic news.
On the unfortunate incident involving Airline AI171, which tragically crashed near Ahmedabad just minutes after departure from London on June 12, it was verified that a single passenger among the 242 aboard miraculously survived the crash.
The company announced on X (previously Twitter) on June 12 that out of the 242 people on board, it’s confirmed that 241 have sadly passed away. However, there is one individual who has survived and is currently receiving medical attention at a hospital.
As an ardent admirer, I’m sharing this news: Air India has revealed that the miraculous survivor hails from British soil with Indian roots, while the unfortunate passengers included 169 fellow Indians, 52 Brits, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian. Among the crew of 12 aboard the Boeing 787-8, none survived the ordeal.

Local media recognized the lone survivor as Vishwash Kumar Ramesh (NBC News additionally verified that Vishwash’s name and seat number corresponded with the flight’s passenger list).
Right after the accident, Vishwash voiced his concern about possibly losing his brother, who was also aboard.
Vishwash shared with his brother Nayan Kumar Ramesh that he has no idea where their other sibling is, as reported by NBC News’ affiliated network Sky News. He also mentioned that he doesn’t see any other passengers and expressed bewilderment about how he survived and managed to get out of the plane.

After the airplane accident, India’s prime minister, Narendra Modi, expressed his feelings about the tragic incident.
He expressed his shock and sorrow over the incident in Ahmedabad, stating it in a message to X. The situation leaves me speechless with grief. At this difficult time, my sympathies go out to all those impacted.
