As a long-time WWE fan who has witnessed the meteoric rise of AJ Styles, I can say with certainty that his disappearance from our screens leaves a void that is hard to fill. From his early days in TNA to his grand slam achievements in WWE, he’s been an integral part of my weekly wrestling routine.
As a die-hard fan, I’ve noticed something peculiar – AJ Styles, the Phenomenal One, seems to have vanished from the WWE scene. Throughout 2024, he was a consistent presence, making waves with his actions. He started the year by turning heel, teaming up with Randy Orton and LA Knight in a bid to dethrone then-Undisputed WWE Champion Roman Reigns. Their four-man program was quite the spectacle!

What’s next for AJ Styles?
According to Fightful Select, it’s widely believed that AJ Styles’s WWE contract will end sometime between the end of this year and the beginning of next year. It remains unclear if WWE is trying to renew his contract or if Styles has other intentions for the future.
During the summer, Styles was playing a pretense of retiring, while The Phenomenal One has truly been contemplating retirement for real.
Last April, Styles stated that he was nearing the conclusion of his time in WWE and wanted a fitting storyline and match before his departure. He announced his retirement as he’s approaching the stage where he fears potential embarrassment. His mind tells him he can still perform, but his body responds, ‘You’re foolish. We can’t do this. We’re hurting every day when we wake up.’ Eventually, it will be time to conclude this chapter.
At WWE WrestleMania 40, ComicBook spoke with Styles, who confirmed his intention of wrapping up his wrestling career within the WWE. This suggests that he may not transition to AEW, despite having many friends and associates there. If Styles were to work a match outside of WWE before fully retiring, it’s possible that he might do so with TNA due to his history with the company. With TNA now collaborating with WWE, the likelihood of Styles returning to help shape TNA for a special event is higher than ever.
