Alan Silvestri Seemingly Returning for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars

As a long-time Marvel fan and follower of Alan Silvestri’s impressive body of work, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the news that the composer will return to score “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” His iconic themes for the Avengers have been a highlight of the MCU since 2012, and it’s exciting to know that he’ll once again bring his unique touch to these upcoming films.

As a huge fan of Alan Silvestri’s magnificent compositions, I’m thrilled to hear that he’s gearing up for another stint in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This esteemed composer, known for his masterpieces in “Back to the Future” and “Forrest Gump,” made his MCU debut with “Captain America: The First Avenger.” He then went on to create the stunning scores for all four Avengers films produced by Marvel Studios.

Silvestri is well-versed in the comic book world, having worked on projects like “Judge Dredd” and “RED 2”. After the recent announcements about “Avengers: Doomsday” at San Diego Comic Con, he expressed his excitement on social media. The Russo brothers then replied, encouragingly urging, “Let’s begin!”

I’m excited about the upcoming Avengers film, “Doomsday,” even though we don’t have much information about its storyline yet. But one thing is clear – Robert Downey, Jr. will be portraying Doctor Doom in this movie, setting the stage for him to become the main antagonist not only in “Doomsday” but also in its sequel, “Secret Wars.”

Over the past weekend, Marvel enthusiasts have been greatly exhilarated: The duo of Deadpool and Wolverine shattered box office records, while Marvel’s Hall H presentation became the hot topic during the last 36 hours at San Diego Comic Con.

It was widely believed that “Secret Wars,” the upcoming sixth Avengers film, would draw inspiration from Jonathan Hickman’s comic series of the same name, rather than the 1980s adaptation with its “Mortal Kombat”-esque storyline. For years, fans had anticipated that Doom would emerge as the primary antagonist. There were even rumors that Downey might make a brief appearance as an alternate version of Iron Man. However, few foresaw the connection between these two elements.

Last night, the Downey-as-Doom announcement drew significant attention and dominated discussions across geek communities online. The impact was substantial, bringing the Marvel Cinematic Universe back into the limelight. As we anticipate the releases of “Captain America: Brave New World” and “Thunderbolts” next year, it remains to be seen how much of this renewed enthusiasm will translate. With the impressive box office performance of “Deadpool” and “Wolverine,” along with the excitement generated at San Diego Comic-Con, there’s a growing optimism about Marvel Studios’ future that wasn’t present a year ago.

Alan Silvestri will return in Avengers: Doomsday in May 2026.
