It’s complicated between Alec Baldwin and his daughter Ireland Baldwin.

More recently, the comedian confessed that fatherhood was not an immediate experience for him, particularly with his daughter Ireland, who was born during his marriage to Kim Basinger between 1993 and 2002.

In a recent interview on the second episode of their new TLC series, The Baldwins (airing March 2), Alec, aged 66, expressed that his divorce from Ireland’s mother had significantly strained their relationship. He went on to say that one of the things he deeply regrets is how this separation impacted Ireland in a negative way.

Despite taking approximately 18 months to sort out the financial aspects, as per Alec, “everything else revolved around custody.” The divorce process, as portrayed by the actor in the movie It’s Complicated, was a prolonged seven-year ordeal. He described the custody battle as exceptionally challenging and “nothing short of insanity.

However, Alec, who has children Carmen (11), Rafael (9), Leonardo (8), Romeo (6), Eduardo (4), Maria (3) and Ilaria (2) together with wife Hilaria Baldwin, has learned a valuable lesson from the situation and is using it to strengthen his bond with his second-born daughter.

He explained, “The reason for my intense focus on Carmen is that I yearn to establish a positive connection with her. To me, she feels like another chance at having a special girl in my life once more.

Now, it appears that Alec and Ireland have improved their relationship, 18 years on from the incident where a recording of Alec referring to Ireland as a “rude, thoughtless little pig” was made public.

In 2020, Ireland shared with Entertainment Tonight that it required considerable time and therapy for both of us to heal. At a very challenging point in our lives, we found ourselves in extremely difficult situations. However, my feelings for him are profound, and I hold him in the highest esteem.

Now, Ireland has formed her own family, and she recently posted a heartwarming photo of her 22-month-old daughter Holland, who had the pleasure of meeting Alec and Hilaria’s children in 2024. The post was accompanied by the caption, “Holland got to meet her siblings for the first time.

Alec Baldwin, who is famously recognized as Alexander Rae Baldwin III, was born on April 3, 1958. His parents were Alexander Rae Baldwin Jr. and Carol Newcomb. He is one of six children in the family and is the eldest among his brothers.

After that, we have Daniel Baldwin, born on October 5, 1960. William “Billy” Baldwin joined the family on February 21, 1963, and Stephen Baldwin, the youngest among them, was born on May 12, 1966.

Among the six siblings, it’s Elizabeth “Beth” Baldwin Keuchler who is the eldest. She was born in 1955 and currently has six children with her spouse, Charles Keuchler, who works as a landscape architect.

Carol outlived her father by nearly four decades, having survived a breast cancer diagnosis in 1991 at the age of 55. She continued living until May 26, 2022, leaving behind 25 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a cancer research foundation that bears her name.

In his tribute upon her passing, Alec expressed that his mother educated him about opportunities for reinvention, not just twice but multiple times. For the last quarter of her life, she stood resiliently as a warrior and an advocate, dedicating immense effort to the cause she was so passionate about.

Alec was married to Oscar winner Kim Basinger from 1993 until 2002.

Their daughter Ireland Baldwin was born Oct. 23. 1995.

Alec married Hilaria Baldwin (née Thomas) on June 30, 2012.
