Alex Garland has been a well-known author and later director for more than two decades. He penned the 1996 novel, “The Beach,” which was turned into a 2000 film starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Subsequently, Garland moved into screenwriting and created the script for “28 Days Later” in 2002. His directorial debut did not occur until 2014 when he collaborated with A24 to direct the AI-themed thriller “Ex Machina.” This film earned him a nomination for an Oscar in the Best Original Screenplay category, and it also won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects.
Initially, Garland and A24 established a fruitful professional bond through their collaboration. Although Garland moved on from A24 for his second project, an adaptation of the book Annihilation, they reconnected in 2022 for the film Men. Recently, Garland’s direction of Civil War earned rave reviews and became A24’s highest-grossing movie ever at the global box office, as well as the second-highest domestically. Now, Garland’s most recent film with A24 is achieving impressive success at the box office.
Warfare Is Climbing Up A24’s Highest-Grossing Charts
It’s In The Top 15 Domestically
The war film directed by Garland and Ray Mendoza, a former war veteran, has made its way onto a significant box office chart by A24. The cast includes Joseph Quinn, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Cosmo Jarvis, Aaron Mackenzie, Alex Brockdorff, and Finn Bennett. Warfare has been warmly received, with a 92% rating on the Tomatometer. ScreenRant‘s Mary Kassel awarded it 7 out of 10 stars, stating that “Warfare holds your attention throughout.
As a cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that according to “The Numbers,” the gripping war drama “Warfare” has climbed up A24’s all-time chart. Currently, it stands at the 15th spot among A24’s highest-grossing films domestically, with a staggering $21.8 million earned at the box office in the US. Globally, it’s even more impressive, having surpassed the $25 million mark, with a total of $26.2 million. With its sights set on overtaking “We Live in Time,” which made $24.6 million domestically, I can’t wait to see where this cinematic journey takes us next!
