Alice in Wonderland’s New Anime Reveals Release Date & Trailer: Watch

Lewis Carroll’s works, “Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass,” are two iconic and impactful children’s books that have stood the test of time. These stories follow Alice, a young girl who embarks on an extraordinary journey into a magical world full of quirky characters and puzzling riddles she must solve to make her way back home. Since its initial publication in 1865, Carroll’s books have inspired numerous spin-offs, including Disney and Tim Burton adaptations, as well as appearances in various anime and manga series.

From time to time, I find myself captivated by the whimsical charm of Alice’s adventures, whether it’s a fleeting reference like the “Alice in Wonderland” episode from Ouran High School Host Club, or an extensive project stemming from the story, such as the Heart no Kuni No Alice (Alice in the Country of Hearts) otome game-turned-multimedia phenomenon that swept through the late 2000s. The enchanting tale has become a staple in my world. Now, P.A. Works has breathed new life into this classic story with their animated feature film, Alice in Wonderland -Dive in Wonderland-, offering a fresh take that exudes an exquisite storybook atmosphere and an evident love for the original material.

Besides generating intrigue with its initial teaser, this film also has a confirmed Japanese release date on August 29th, 2025, although international screenings are yet to be finalized. Additionally, details about the main characters’ actors have been revealed – Nanoka Hara will portray Rise (tentative romanization), while Maika Pugh takes on the role of Alice in the movie. Notably, this film is directed by Toshiya Shinohara, who has previously worked on the critically acclaimed 2018 anime Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms, as well as the Inuyasha and Black Butler series.

Alice In Wonderland -Dive In Wonderland- Is a Promising Adaptation Premiering 73 Years After Disney’s Animated Classic

Before its release, it’s evident from the trailer that this upcoming film is brimming with fervor and a strong affinity for the source material. The voice actresses chosen for the lead roles seem equally devoted to the project. Nanoka Hara, portraying Rise, expresses her gratitude by stating: “I never thought I’d be given another opportunity in voice acting. It’s an honor to contribute to a medium I hold in high regard.” The actress embodying Alice, who is just 10 years old, shares her enthusiasm about being part of the project, hoping that families and friends will unite to enjoy the journey of these two characters on screen.
