As a lifelong fan of the Alien franchise, I am beyond thrilled to witness the terrifying evolution of the xenomorphs under the masterful hand of Noah Hawley. Having grown up with the iconic silhouette etched into my nightmares, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation at the prospect of these creatures invading our own world in Alien: Earth.
The Alien series is planning to introduce a fresh brand of fear on television screens in 2025, as the creator of Legion and FX’s Fargo brings the xenomorphs into our living rooms. Noah Hawley’s Alien: Earth, set to air on Hulu next year, will unfold an entire story within our own planet for the franchise. Additionally, the alien habitat and the xenomorph creatures themselves are expected to undergo some modifications in this new series.
At the Emmys on Sunday night, Hawley caught up with Deadline to talk about his highly anticipated new FX series. The creator opened up about just how scary xenomorphs can be, which led to a little hint that the creatures in this series will look a bit different than what we’re used to.
Hawley remarked, “Spotting a Xenomorph out in the untamed lands of Earth is a sight to behold. It’s downright spine-tingling to ponder its presence among us. I can’t reveal the specific conditions under which you’ll encounter it, but trust me, you will. And when that night comes, you’ll be reaching for your door key.
He found it particularly enjoyable to interact with the creature and introduce some of his own ideas into its design while preserving the silhouette, as that was untouchable. However, certain aspects, depending on the host, influence the final form of the creature. He wanted to experiment a bit to make it as frightening as possible.

The overall design of the xenomorph is iconic and, like Hawley said, shouldn’t really be changed. There have been different versions of the aliens over the years, largely dictated by the planets and beings playing host to their hatching system. The xenomorphs have had slightly different styles, in addition to some completely new creations that have come from those xenomorphs over the years.
Consider the latest blockbuster, “Alien: Romulus,” for instance. This movie showcased traditional xenomorphs alongside a completely novel creature now famously called the offspring. Intriguingly, a xenomorph selected a pregnant woman as its host, and the baby she delivered was essentially half-human, half-xenomorph. The offspring was instantly hailed as one of the most spine-chilling creatures ever birthed from the Alien series, an image that has lingered in viewers’ minds since they watched it at the cinema.
Considering this perspective, it’s clear that an individual like Hawley would have endless possibilities for exploring xenomorph lore, given the vast canvas of the human world to serve as his creative stage.
