The VR-based action horror game titled “Alien: Rogue Incursion” will no longer be exclusive to VR systems. Renamed as the “Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition“, this updated version is now scheduled for release on PS5 and PC platforms, with a planned launch date of September 30th. A trailer showcasing some gameplay has been unveiled to give us a sneak peek at the upcoming title. Take a look at it below.
In the game titled “Alien: Rogue Incursion“, players take on the role of Zula Hendricks, a former Colonial Marine, who is embarking on a secretive mission aimed at uncovering illicit experiments being conducted by Weyland-Yutani. A sequence of occurrences leads Hendricks to the remote planet Purdan, following an SOS signal transmission. The task for players is to explore and scrutinize the abandoned mining colony on Purdan, with the ultimate goal of finding a solution to deal with the Xenomorph menace.
As a fan, I’d say: Initially designed for VR headsets, Alien: Rogue Incursion leans heavily on stealth and action gameplay. Throughout my exploration of the contaminated Gemini Exoplanet Solutions research facility, I must frequently duck for cover and stay hidden to avoid detection. However, as the story progresses, I’m gradually given access to a formidable array of tools that can help me neutralize some of the more menacing hazards within the facility.
Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition” is known as the first part of a planned two-part narrative. Although it stands alone as a fully conclusive story, some plot elements are purposely left open for a potential sequel that will be released at a later date.
In terms of gameplay, Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition is designed to instill a sense of despair in the player as they scavenge for ammunition for their weapons and cautiously navigate around some of the deadliest Xenomorphs. To heighten the game’s immersive experience, it employs spatial sound design, encouraging players to rely on their hearing as much as their sight when determining if they are about to become a Xenomorph’s next meal.
In addition, players will be able to utilize traditional gadgets and firearms reminiscent of the Alien series, including the recognizable motion detector for tracing foe activity, as well as several renowned weapons hailing from the science fiction film saga.
It’s important to mention that, as Alien: Rogue Incursion was initially developed for VR gameplay, its transition into a standard game could result in the loss of some original gameplay aspects. The developers at Survios have not yet confirmed whether elements such as utilizing environmental objects as improvised weapons to throw at enemies will be included in the Evolved Edition.
The base version of “Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition” is set at a price of $29.99. Additionally, there will be a Deluxe Edition available, priced at $39.99. This premium edition comes with extra features such as the Blue Camo armor and weapon skins, along with an in-game digital artbook detailing the artwork behind “Alien: Rogue Incursion” creation.
