All-new Bergerac trailer gives first look at Damien Molony, Philip Glenister and more

As a long-time fan of British detective series and someone who has grown up with the original Bergerac, I must say I am both excited and apprehensive about this new reimagining. The teaser clip has certainly piqued my curiosity, with Damien Molony looking every bit the part as the iconic Jim Bergerac. However, the thought of seeing a different actor in that role is still a bit jarring, much like discovering your favorite takeaway place has a new chef.

In the upcoming year, a fresh, innovative take on Bergerac will grace your television screens, and here’s a sneak peek at this thrilling new series!

In the sneak peek, Damien Molony assumes the legendary role of Jim Bergerac, and it’s clear he faces some intense challenges!

The teaser also gave a closer look at the wider cast in this six-part series, including Zoë Wanamaker, Philip Glenister and Chloé Sweetlove.

You can watch the full teaser below.

In the latest show, viewers will encounter Jim Bergerac, a man struggling with personal issues, who’s been away due to the passing of his spouse and is now grappling with his inner turmoil.

However, a shift occurs as a prominent figure from Jersey’s affluent families gets brutally murdered, compelling the police chief to reactivate their top investigator – Bergerac – and bring him back onto the job.

In the continuation, Bergerac resumes his duties as a detective to regain his former greatness, all while demonstrating to his daughter Kim and grandmother-in-law Charlie Hungerford that he has successfully navigated his way back onto the right path in life.

The Wakefields, headed by Arthur – both family patriarch and entrepreneur, maintain a guarded stance, while an old acquaintance of Bergerac reappears to level a surprising claim. Can Bergerac handle the challenge?

Additionally, we have the following actors joining the cast: Pippa Haywood from Green Wing, Robert Gilbert known for Killing Eve, Aidan McArdle of Blackshore, Timothy Renouf starring in A Very British Scandal, Stephen Wight from Screw, Ayesha Antoine of The Long Song, and Celine Arden appearing in The Postcard Killings.

In this contemporary adaptation, the show seeks to pay tribute to the legendary drama that featured John Nettles and aired for nine seasons on BBC between 1981 and 1991, known as Bergerac.

Instead of a fresh tale in every installment like the initial series, Bergerac will now feature a single, continuous character-driven murder mystery that unfolds throughout all six episodes.
