What Are Nightlords in Elden Ring Nightreign?

As a captivated adventurer, I find myself immersed in the eerie realm of Limgrave (Limveld), where the enigmatic figures known as the Nightlords loom. These ominous entities seem to be the embodiment of the darkness that shrouds this land. Their origins remain a mystery, yet they appear to have deep roots with the Nightfarers’ histories.

As I delve deeper into the main story, specifically the Expeditions, I unearth memory fragments related to the Nightfarers. Defeating each Nightlord rewards me with a guaranteed memory fragment from each of them, hinting that the characters I encounter have ties not only to the Nightlords but also Heolstor.

Just as every FromSoftware game does, this one leaves the true essence of the Nightlords open for interpretation. The player’s experience and understanding become their unique story.

If you make it past the first two days of your Expedition, the Nightlords will present the toughest gameplay test you’ll encounter. Each Nightlord possesses unique abilities: Gladius, for example, splits into three, while Libra has the power to induce madness and apply a debuff based on your pre-battle decisions. Furthermore, each Nightlord has specific elemental vulnerabilities that can be exploited using weapons with elemental properties.

In my gaming adventures, I’ve discovered eight Nightlords roaming Elden Ring: Nightreign’s release introduced the likes of Heolstor, the true Nightlord. Even better, the Deluxe Edition I picked up comes with a DLC Pass hinting at these additions.
