All of Ash Ketchum’s Female Companions & Their Best Pokémon, Ranked

Accompanies Ash Ketchum on his journey through various regions, where he encounters compelling and formidable trainers. Typically, he travels with a male and a female trainer, often the main character from the corresponding season’s Pokémon video games.

In the Hoenn region, Ash is often seen journeying alongside May, one of the strong female characters from the games “Pokémon Ruby” and “Sapphire”. Throughout his adventures, Ash has been accompanied by numerous capable female trainers such as Misty and Serena, each with their unique objectives and formidable squads of Pokémon.

Chloe Lacks A Lot of Great Character Moments

In the animated series “Pokémon Journeys,” Chloe – a character who’s not just any friend but specifically Ash and Goh’s female companion – is the daughter of Professor Cerise. She often tags along with the duo during their exploratory expeditions. Despite other characters in the franchise having their individual journeys, aspirations, hardships, and moments to excel, Chloe is yet to fully discover her own path.

Chloe’s group of Pokémons includes a Yamper and an Eevee, with the latter being her most powerful female Eevee. Among all the moves that Eevee possesses, Copycat is her strongest one. Eevee often mimics other Pokémon’s actions, which explains why she frequently employs the Copycat move.

Verity Attempts To Break Free From Her Mother’s Shadow

In simpler terms, Verity is a young lady from the Sinnoh region whose father is a professional Pokémon trainer. She struggles to live up to her mother’s high standards and decides to embark on a journey to Kanto. In the movie “Pokémon I Choose You!”, Verity and Sorrel accompany Ash on his adventures. Verity is lively, tomboyish, and eagerly embraces her role as a new competitive trainer, fitting neatly into this character archetype.

In a different phrasing, we can say: Verity’s strongest Pokémon isn’t Piplup, it’s Lapras. Although Verity doesn’t use Lapras in battles, she employs them for water travel, similar to Ash’s usage during his Orange Islands journey. Given that her other Pokémon is an un-evolved Piplup, the one-stage Lapras is significantly more powerful.

Bonnie is a Cheerful But Boring Character

In the captivating Pokémon Series XY, I come across Bonnie – Clemont’s adorable little sister. Unlike her brother, she isn’t a trainer, but that doesn’t stop her from playing a significant role. You see, she befriended one of Zygarde’s cells named Squishy, which granted her a unique bond with the Pokémon world. Since she’s too young to be an official trainer, Bonnie looks after Clemont’s Dedenne instead. She’s a character who can’t resist offering constructive criticism and heartfelt praise for her brother, making their dynamic quite intriguing.

As part of the Kalos region team, I’ve always dreamt of one day squaring off against Ash Ketchum in a battle of our own. Though officially, I don’t bear the title of a trainer, my bond with my Pokémon, particularly Dedenne, is unmatched. This little electric-type has proven himself time and again, especially when it comes to taking down Team Rocket. The move that truly seals the deal for Dedenne is Thundershock – watch out when he unleashes that! It’s a fierce showdown every single time we face off against Team Rocket or any other trainer. The thrill of the battle only fuels my determination to grow stronger and someday prove myself worthy of battling Ash.

Lana Is a Kind Character But Not Extremely Interesting

Lana is a trainer who specializes in water-type Pokémon, and she’s often recognized by fans as one of the Trail Captains in the alternate game. As a person, Lana is tranquil and kind, with a strong love for sea voyages. She has a mischievous streak that frequently results in her telling amusing but sometimes outlandish jokes.

Among Lana’s Pokémon, it’s her Primarina that stands out as her most powerful companion, having been her starter in the Alola region. Though she did briefly capture a Xurkitree, one of the potent Ultra Beasts, for her duties as an Ultra Guardian, Primarina is her go-to Pokémon in battles. Lana’s Primarina excels particularly well when using the Z-Move “Oceanic Operetta.

Mallow Has An Interesting and Relatable Backstory

Mallow is a dynamic, action-loving individual who tends to overlook crucial details or draw incorrect conclusions due to her enthusiasm. She’s a loyal friend and has a fondness for Grass-Type Pokémon in the world of Pokémon. The most striking aspect about Mallow is the lingering remorse she carries from her interactions with her mother. In episode 108 of Pokémon: Sun & Moon, titled “Memories in the Mist!”, we learn that Mallow had a falling out with her mother just before her mother’s illness took her life.

In Mallow’s character, her remorse is evident through her perpetual kindness and assistance towards her friends. A pivotal scene in the storyline allows Mallow to confront and alleviate her feelings of guilt in a moving and identifiable manner. Interestingly, while her Tsareena was her ace, Shaymin, a seldom seen mystical Pokémon with remarkable potential comparable to legendary Pokémon, stood out as her strongest companion. Although the series does not explicitly state that Mallow owns Shaymin, she tends to care for it over the course of the anime.

What Iris Lost in Character She Gained In Battle Power

In the world of Pokémon Black and White, Ash is accompanied by Iris. Her ambition is to one day master Dragons, so she journeys with Ash and Cilan across Unova in pursuit of this dream. Iris’s affection for Dragon-type Pokémon has resulted in a formidable team of skilled combatants.

Among her impressive collection of Pokémon, her standout choice is undeniably Haxorus, which first appeared in the Pokémon World Coronation Series Masters Eight Tournament. This formidable creature boasts moves such as Giga Impact, Outrage, Breaking Swipe, and Psycho Cut – a testament to its immense power.

Lillie’s Journey to Not Be Afraid of Pokémon Was A Series Highlight

In the world of Pokémon: Sun & Moon, I found myself observing a unique classmate named Lillie. Unlike most of my peers, she harbored an intense fear of Pokémon, making it impossible for her to even touch them. Throughout the series, we witnessed Lillie’s courageous journey to conquer this phobia and strengthen the bonds with her family members, particularly her older brother Gladion, her distant mother Lusamine, and her father Mohn, who was missing at the time.

In Episode 14 titled “Getting to Know You,” Lillie’s top and unique Pokémon is the Alola Vulpex she hatched.

Serena Had a Powerful Character Arc and Physical Change

Serena, Ash’s oldest friend and hidden admirer, is known for being the child of a renowned Rhyhorn racer. Originally wandering aimlessly across the Kalos region, she found purpose in Pokemon Showcases and decided to participate. In this storyline, her character undergoes a wardrobe and hairstyle transformation, marking the first such change in the series.

In her journeys, Serena’s primary battle companion is Delphox, the fully developed form of her starting Pokemon, Fennekin. For most of her adventures in Kalos, Delphox was Braixen, but during Serena’s trip through Hoenn, it evolved into its current form. Apart from Sylveon, Delphox stands as the only evolved Pokémon she has. Given that Delphox is a starting Pokemon, it boasts greater strength compared to other Pokémon. With abilities like Mystical Fire and Hidden Power, Delphox serves as a potent ally to Serena in her travels.

May Starts Her Journey Not Caring for Pokemon

In Hoenn, I, an observer, find myself alongside Ash, who has the company of May. At first, she embarks on this journey to encounter new individuals and explore uncharted territories. However, it’s during these travels that she discovers her real passion – Pokémon Contests.

May is a delightful, graceful, and ever-optimistic young woman who takes great care in her appearance and finds joy in the culinary delights she encounters along the way.

May’s most formidable Pokémon is her starter companion, Blaziken. Not only did Blaziken excel in battles, but it also shone in contests. With moves such as Blaze Kick, Overheat, and Sky Uppercut, Blaziken was both stunningly beautiful and incredibly powerful, being May’s most exceptional Pokémon.

Misty is Also the Last Trainer Ash Travels With Before the Series Ends

At first, Misty and Ash weren’t friends. When Ash wrecked Misty’s bike, she asked him to fix it, but instead, she joined him on his journeys across Kanto and Johto. Known for her forceful complaints and hot-tempered outbursts, which are often intense in most of her moods, Misty eventually becomes more calm over time. A passionate fan of Water-type Pokémon, Misty aims to become a Master specializing in Water-types.

In Misty’s team, her most powerful Pokemon is her Mega-Gyarados, and this choice holds meaning for her. A traumatic incident from her childhood made her fearful of Water-Type Pokemon like Gyarados. However, during her adventures as depicted in “Pokémon Chronicles”, Misty manages to catch a wild, rampaging Gyarados. The bond between them grows so strong that she is able to induce its Mega-evolution in a subsequent encounter with Ash.
