As someone who’s been through more zombie apocalypse scenarios on TV than I care to admit, I can say with certainty that All of Us Are Dead is a show that resonates deeply with me. The first season was an adrenaline-pumping rollercoaster ride, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting the second instalment ever since it wrapped up.
More than two years have passed since the debut of the critically acclaimed South Korean zombie series “All of Us Are Dead.” As the second season approaches its Netflix premiere, the original webtoon’s creator has shared his thoughts about it.
As a cinephile, I must say that this TV show mirrors its comic book counterpart by focusing on a band of pupils who are unexpectedly ensnared within the walls of their high school amidst a raging zombie outbreak.
When asked about his thoughts on the Netflix adaptation, webtoon creator Joo Dong-geun replied: “I’m approximately 80% pleased with the Netflix show. Among other things, I particularly enjoyed the library and cafeteria scenes.
Yet, I couldn’t help but notice that certain captivating aspects from the webtoon seemed absent in the series adaptation. For instance, the archery club held a larger and more crucial position within the storyline of the webtoon compared to its portrayal in the series.
In addition, Joo shared insights about his role in creating Season 2, disclosing that so far, his contribution has been minimal.
He mentioned that he’s willing to lend a hand if asked, but they already have their own group. He doesn’t actively seek opportunities to assist them, but he stands ready should they reach out.
As the webtoon creator, I regularly get a good deal of information and updates regarding the ongoing developments.
“If there’s an opportunity, I would also like to go and see the film set.”
At this point, it remains unclear which stars from the first season will appear in the second one. However, by the finale of the initial run, On-jo (Park Ji-hu), Su-hyeok (Park Solomon), Dae-su (Im Jae-hyuk), Ha-ri (Ha Seung-ri), Mi-jin (Lee Eun-saem), and Hyo-ryung (Kim Bo-yoon) were all still alive, implying that they might reappear in future episodes.
